Just ask on Freecycle for a field of chemical free dandelions. But the

best time to harvest roots is the fall, correct, when the plant is

sending all it's energy to the root for overwintering.

I have read that acid rain can prevent selenium uptake in the roots of

plants- it was effecting mountain goats. So even organic produce is

likely effected from the fallout of planes, mosquito sprays, etc.
