I was always told the body turns sorbitol into sugar

Hi Tina,

Could you tell me why sorbital is not OK on the diet, please?

I've always avoided it for my son. Recently I asked a food

technologist specialising in sugars, about manitol and he said

both sorbital and manitol are not absorbed by the body.

I would like the comments of the list members.

Hi,

I just came across this letter this morning- I'm way behind on emails and missed the discussion, so I'm sorry if this is a little behind!

I just wanted to tell you, does not tolerate any type of sugar, in any form. Sorbitol has always been one of our biggest no-no's. Anything ending in tol or ose has been a problem.

Her vitamin C powder had xylitol, which sent her into the worse seizures we'd ever seen her have. As soon as I took it away, the seizures cleared up again.

Take care,

Kandy
