Confidentiality and punctuality at CMC Vellore VCTC

Dear FORUM,

I did sent several messages to TNSACS and CMC Vellore hospital

regarding the issue of lack of confidentially and lack of punctuality

in CMC's VCTC center. A s positive person, I feel I am treated badly

by the staff of CMC's VCTC center

The past week I went to CMC Vellore with anotherpositive person to

seek care and support. We reached the hospital at 7.40 AM but the

VCTC the counselor was not available till 9.30am.

Instead of the counselor the lab technician was counseling and asking

all the details. The testing was done and the report was given at

12.15pm by the lab technician

Most of the time the VCTC is not running properly in CMC vellore.

When we asked about the absence of the counsellior, we were told, he

has gone for outreach so come at later time. But, they do not give a

proper time or appointment. We have no way to find out when the

counselor is out for out reach and when he would be back.

It is getting worse. I went to CMC Vellore on 16.3.2007 at10.50am. At

the VCTC a lot of persons were sitting and waiting. When I enquired

about the counselor, I have been told, the counselor has gone for

outreach. Come back at 2.00pm. Accordingly, I went back to the VCTC

at 2.00pm. But still there was no VCTC counselor. Even then many

people were waiting for the counselor.

Instead of the counselor, the Lab Technician came at 4.15pm and began

asking questions. There was no confidentiality. The Lab technician

took the details from all of us in the presence of all the waiting

patients and the people accompanied them.

So, kindly consider the quality of counseling and support services

offered through the CMC Vellore VCTC and take some steps to save the

positive persons from this humiliation
