Guest guest
Hi Everyone, I'm following up with feedback on the organic wool mattress I purchased from Nature's Wool. Best thing about it is its price - we paid $350 including shipping for a twin. Same mattress from Shepherd's Wool would have cost more than double that. It does spring back and hasn't so far padded down very much (unlike a thick cotton futon would - japanese style is different as they are much thinner). HOWEVER, the warning that the company gave when I purchased it holds true: if you're going to put it directly on to slats or wood, it's going to be HARD - too hard. We put blankets underneath and it's better but still very hard. The person with whom I spoke said that it's best to just put it on top of another mattress (which sort of defeats the purpose of getting away from all those chemicals). So I guess that I'd recommend spending more and looking in to the mattresses from Shepherd's Wool - not sure if they are thicker but worth questioning. -Unless you just want a topper for health and comfort reasons - in which case this is a pricey topper! Guest guest
We have a Nature's Rest mattress - all organic cotton, latex, etc., and not at all an inexpensive option. We actually bought a full-size for my 12-yo and I tried it out one night, falling madly in love with it. Wouldn't you know it, by the time I got around to getting one for myself, they didn't disclose the fact that they had changed the composition of the mattress even though I thought I was buying the very same one. It's hard, hard, crippling hard. I wake up with numb legs. I'd be thrilled to buy a topper from Nature's Wool because it doesn't look like this latex mattress is EVER going to break in. I've been tempted to do jumping jacks on it to help it along. How thick is the wool topper from NW? Thanks for following up and sharing information!
