Guest guest
I want to understand my body alkalinity/acidity levels fasting and post-prandial. Any advice on which and where to get good pH Indices test strips? A query at my pharmacy referred me to surgical supply stores, which I take as a late April Fool's joke. I tried to create my own pH test by mixing Turmeric with Alcohol, but except for a stained glass and kitchen sink it did not work reliably, and it offers only two shades of color: orange or ruby (alcaline or acidic). Here's a good article that sums up the vital importance of understanding acidity and alkalinity, and the related consumption of minerals and proteins, for health and cure. http://www.life-sources.com/how_we_become_acid-ni-16.html?newsPath=10 Noteworthy how this article has a completely opposite take on the theory of the demise of the Mayan's, and the reason for their weakened bone structure, compared to Weston Price. In this article, the prevalence of protein is blamed. That said, how does the group feel about the strong amount of protein in the Weston Price approach? Did the studied natives even live long enough to be a proper object to investigate longevity coupled with optimum health, or do really we have no precedent for that yet in our fairly short time of existence of a species on this planet, and must reinvent our approach as we go into deeper ages of longevity, experiment, and take into account individuality? Any advice appreciated. It's time to get real. Boris
Guest guest
Boris, Many health food stores sell ph test strips. The directions on mine say to spit on a spoon and dip the litmus paper in it. I imagine if you can't find them there, an aquarium/pet store or even swimming pool supply store could supply you a vial of litmus paper to use and the reader chart. I'm not sure WAP was as pro-protein as some on this group are. He talked about " Rabbit starvation " in which too much protein and not enough fat was consumed and how bad for you it could be; someone else on this list pointed out that at one point in his book he said the amount of protein in an egg was about enough for a day. I've begun to experiment with a simpler diet of mostly (sourdough whole grain) bread and raw dairy, one egg a day and as much as I want of fruits and vegetables, mostly raw, and I feel pretty good. I'm trying to just have meat on the weekends now, to fill out any gaps. It does seem that too much protein is hard on the kidneys and lymphatic system; not to mention it may be depleting the protease enzymes but that's just theory. What I find interesting is the difference in activities I choose to do when I'm on a different diet - more cerebral, more " get things done " and less likely to sit and knit or watch TV (less passive). I can't seem to be able to even MAKE myself watch TV! I've been much more physically active as well, but have not really experienced any sore muscles, tho they do at times feel fatigued. But is that due to the lack of protein or those bad fats, processed foods, etc. that I would otherwise find myself eating? It does make you wonder, doesn't it? If you follow the thinking of Rife, Naessens and Beauchamp, disease rarely happens in a healthy person; so how could the plagues from contact with Europeans have wiped out so many like described in 1491 (the book) if they were living the ideal lifestyle, where he says they lost 90% or more of the population, except that they weren't as healthy as those who idealize them lead us to believe. Like if they were really part of a vast civilization that had in some respects gotten as hedonistic as ours with overeating too rich of a diet, etc. > > I want to understand my body alkalinity/acidity levels fasting and post-prandial.
