Yikes! I just googled my name and discovered that some of my NN messages are

showing up on google! Why is this happening? Sometimes I write personal stuff

on this list that I wouldn't want the whole world to know ---and I was under the

impression messages were confidential. Can anyone help me out with this

issue please?!?!

You have the ability to go onto any list archive and delete any post

that you've made to lists. It will be removed from the archives and

therefore unavailable for mining from search engines.

That's not an easy task to do as they have to be eliminated one by one,

as far as I can tell. Not only that, but any messages that have my name

and messages which others have included in their responses cannot be

eliminated by me. Messages even show up on a website --- Wellspire ---

as a link! If this is not a confidential list, I will quit the group

as I was totally under the impression this was for members only. I

know anyone can join, but that's still different than having my

messages show up on google just by putting in my name. What is the

policy?

What you post might help other people with similar problems

out...Either don't post anything too personal or make an 'alias' so

people won't know its you posting.

Okay, I'll figure out how to do an alias. Now I understand why some

people never sign their names.

But I'd still like to know why some messages are going to google.

What causes that?

The archives of NN are public, freely available to the search engines.

Even so, if they were private it wouldn't much matter. People can

still forward you emails to someone off list, or if they read their

emails via a mail client like Outlook, Becky, etc. then your messages

are being downloaded to a hard drive, available at any time.

You can create an alias and probably should if this is a concern for

you, although I know of one list that doesn't allow that and wants

your full mane and at least city in your signature.

Personally I think writing unsigned messages as a pattern is rude

netiquette, and prefer addressing people by their name or handle.

Best bet, if you are sharing something personal that you don't want to

go beyond the confines of this or any other group, simply don't post

it. Once it arrives on another server, all bets are off.

Even your regular email is not all that private unless you use

encryption or software that allows you to completely bypass your ISP,

delivering your email directly from your desktop to the desktop of the

person receiving your email. Most people don't realize that a copy of

every email you send is kept on your ISP's server, before being sent

to the intended recipient.

In any public forum on the internet, there is no such thing as

confidentiality. Even using an alias, if someone wants to trace you

they certainly can do so. So if your purpose is to keep people you

know from readily identifying you (like work colleagues whom you don't

want to know personal stuff about you) all is good and well, but

anything beyond that, forgetaboutit..

Hope that helps,

Thanks for all your responses and it's not that I didn't know there were leaks

before. I also knew that omnibus was public and a couple of my messages showed

up there. And I will go with an alias now just so any messages with my " name "

that slip onto a google search won't come up with my real name.

But can anyone tell me what causes an NN message to show up on a google search,

by name of person? Obviously, not all our messages come up on a google search.

I think there were 3 of mine that did. This is the question I'm most curious

about.

ANd then, of course, if someone clicks on the link, they can see every message

the group ever wrote. And as I've just discovered, you can erase your messages

and it will not remove what's already in the google search.

My work is related to this concern ---it's a physical safety issue.

In the past, we deep-fried in peanut oil. Love the taste, especially whenwe

injected them with spices, but it's insanely expensive, so weexperimented with

brining which results in a juicy, tasty turkey. I've beenbrining ice-bath

brining for years, using a combination of my own brineinspired by Alton Brown

and Emeril - stuffing the cavity with lemons, oranges, limes, as well as having

orange/lemons and a variety of herbs andaromatics in the brine mix. The last one

we brined was a 34-pounder (boughtlocal, not TT). We've baked them in our oven,

always in a covered roaster. Our favorite method is smoking and long slow

grilling on our Traeger woodpellet grill. I prefer the grill method to the oven

method because theTraeger acts more like an indirect heat, convection method.

Oven method, low and slow, I use temps at 375 for 30 minutes and then temp

lowered to 250for hours and hours is my 2nd favorite method. But it has to be

coveredwith a roaster cover if using lower temps for long periods, or you end

upwith dehydrated turkey. Now I'm getting hungry

forThanksgiving...........LOL.SharonOn Fri, Jul 11, 2008 at 8:50 PM,

In fact, I never referenced my business in that post so I'm notsure where you're

getting that from. My website and forum are free and veryactive, and don't

require a subscription to join in and talk to others aboutanything TF or health

related. If you wish to purchase products, mailers orbooks, that is an option. I

assume you don't know who Alton Brown is? He's on Food Network. Go

towww.foodnetwork.com and search for Alton Brown Turkey Brine and his

recipeshould pop right up. Then you just have to TF-ize it.KerryAnn

When we got our last pastured turkey they said we could keep it in the

refrigerator for a week, and that it would age it and improve flavor and

texture. So maybe your turkey was too fresh??The store turkeys like Butterball

say on the label they may contain 25% liquid (or something similar) which is

brine to add flavor and make it more moist/tender. The salt in the brine forces

the fluid into the cells to plump them, and that keeps the meat from drying out

when it is cooked. The brines often include MSG and other stuff so I stay away

from them when possible but you can brine your turkey as well. You can use a

plastic bag if you don't have a container large enough to keep it submerged.

There are special bags for this that supposedly don't leach chemicals. I like a

salt/sugar or honey brine, but you can add your favorite herbs as well, like

thyme, sage, pepper, etc. and the salt in the brine will force the flavors deep

into the meat as well. I'd guess it might take a week to brine a large turkey.

You can probably find directions online if you are interested.Use natural salt

like RealSalt or Himalayan. The store salt has flow agents, whiteners, etc.

added that aren't really good for you. There is lots of anecdotal evidence, tho

that natural salt doesn't have the same bad health effects as store salt - as

far as blood pressure, water retention, etc. > Huge stockpot in another huge stockpot......lots of ice between

Hi!There can be a lot of serious consequences to low estrogen, and unbalanced

hormones in general. If you must take hrt, compounded bio-identicals are the

safest. Your M.D. may know nothing about them (mine didn't) so you may have to

educate him/her about them. But you may also have to use an N.D. instead as for

one thing, most M.D.s aren't into saliva tests, but that's the only really

accurate way of testing. There is a huge educational section on bio-identical

hormones on the Family Pharmacy website. www.familypharmacy.net At the bottom of

the page, click on Enter Family Pharmacy Online on the left side. On the next

page, click on Natural Hormone Replacement on the left. It goes into great

detail on why we need balanced hormones, the 3 types of estrogen, symptoms of

deficiencies and excess, includes information on progesterone and testosterone

as well, and maybe other hormones -- can't quite remember. It is an excellent

site with tons of information including causes of hormone inbalance (you may

discover some things to work on before trying hrt), and how to get tested. It

takes awhile to read. I highly recommend it.LAREE " And forget not that the Earth

Even others that are private and restricted like WAPFChapterleaders can be

searched by anyone using onibasu. And I guess our email addresses can be

picked up from here for spam opportunities?

That's why I seldom post any more - or don't drill down like I used to - on

any public Google or list. If you're not aware of onibasu.com, it's

another search engines that also saves all posts from this list and others

like it. It's yet another reason why I have my own small, private, locked

down from bots nutrition list...............

Hi Alice,

The chapter leaders list is only restricted in regards to who can join, but

not restricted in regards to who can read the posts because we are indexed

on onibasu.com. Everything on onibasu is then indexed by other search

engines like Google.

I had my name show up on google search, only my ID showed up.

and it showed only groups that were made public for anyone to read.

so my messages posted in public groups were listed there on google.

if a group is made so only members can see messages...those never showed up.
