Have you heard about this? The sugar beet seed producers switched to

Monsanto's Roundup-Ready GM beets unanimously (there were only one or

two companies involved) so now all the sugar beet seed available for

production is GM, and (I didn't realize this until today) it's

hitting the supermarkets this year! Over the years the US has

sourced more and more of its sugar from sugar beets instead of cane

because they can be grown more widely.

From Organic Consumers Association:

ALERT: OCA LAUNCHES KELLOGG'S BOYCOTT

GENETICALLY ENGINEERED SUGAR TO HIT SUPERMARKET SHELVES THIS YEAR

The Organic Consumers Association's (OCA) and allies are calling for

a boycott of all Kellogg's products after Kellogg's refuses to source

only GE-Free Sugar. Monsanto's RoundUp Ready Genetically Engineered

Sugar is due to hit stores this year, exposing millions of consumers

to untested and unlabeled " en Foods " that threaten human heath,

the environment and farmers' rights everywhere.
