Guest guest
You can use food-grade oil to lubricate it. But I think really all you need is a coating to prevent moisture from getting in to rust it. I forget now which ones go rancid the most slowly; probably olive oil. My metal grinder (and the apple peeler/corer/slicer) say to rub food oil on them after using to prevent rust. That's weird that you don't have a way to clean it! Mine always has a fair bit of grain stuck in it when I'm done. I've figured out a straightened paperclip is the best tool to get the stuck kernels out. >> > > > Ugh! Got a grain grinder from freecycle and was so excited. But when I got it out to use, I discovered that it has a moldy smell in the wood. Is it salvagable and if so, what can I do to kill the mold? Or do I just save the motor and have a new box built?> > TIA!> > Laree> > > >
Guest guest
Vinegar kills lots of molds and mildews, also tea tree oil. I would think soak it in vinegar first, or vinegar with TTO. The vinegar smell evaporates a lot faster than the tto smell. Spraying down the surface with vinegar and scrubbing would also help, but soaking would be better.
