Guest guest
Here is the response I received from Barry Groves. Re: diet for type 1 diabetics Dear Maternal diet is only one factor that may increase risk of diabetes. It isn't necessarily the only cause. Autoimmunity is usually the cause of Type-1. The question then is, what caused the autoimmune reaction. And in most cases it seems to be cereal grains. Regards Barry Groves PhD Author: Eat Fat, Get Thin! Co-producer: The perfect Weight Plan: Be Slim Without Dieting (DVD / Video) http://www.second-opinions.co.uk http://www.theperfectweight.com diet for type 1 diabetics I read your article about type 1 diabetics. I differ with you immensely. I have been a type 1 diabetic since he age of 22 months old (diagnosed at The Cleveland Clinic in October 1944). My mother was a slim (and at age 85 still is) woman and there was no history of diabetes of any type on either side of my family. I have worked with diabetics for years and years as an educator. I have seen families where there have been as many as 3 siblings and a mother with type 1 and I have seen other, who likes me, had no history of diabetes in their family. I think the study you wrote about in the article was so limited that any suppositions are not reliable. I really think that blaming the mother for having a type 1 diabetic is not correct at all. Science apparently does not know why the immune response to the Isles of Langerhans happens yet. La France-Wolf MA plawolf@...
