Guest guest
Anything that boosts serotonin will help anxiety. Whole foods: good meals at regular intervals with adequate protein, veg and starch, adequate sleep, easy repetitive movement like walking, swinging, rocking For isolated nutrients: 5HTP, ST 's wort " comfort food " of course If the high anxiety is from some horrible life happening, letting yourself feel it is ultimately more healthful than avoidance by looking desperately for herbs and food - just my opinion. Guest guest
Bach Flower Remedies, bone broth, and kefir. These work well for me. Stay away from caffeine and sugar. Beyond herbs and food, I sometimes use EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique). For your loss of hope- reach for the next best thought, even if it's totally mundane. This will eventually lead you back on your true track. Action cures fear. Sometimes the best thing to do is something totally unrelated, like cleaning the toilet in order to move away from the cloud of anxiety and back on a positive course. I'm pretty sure mine was connected to mercury for the most part. I've experimented with so many different diets and herbs and to little avail. My only self-proven solutions were learning how to meditate, deep breathing, keeping my schedule not crammed in any way, etc... One thing that does work wonders for me is to use an infrared heating pad on my lower back, thighs, or calves. I can go from feeling super awake and super anxious to ready to fall asleep in the middle of the day with an infrared heating pad...and I never could fall asleep in the day most of my life, and I learned its not because I don't need the sleep, but its because I never could relax enough. I think its adrenal related in that case... The heating pad I use is a thermotex gold and it was expensive (over 100) but I absolutely love it and you can fall asleep on it safely without burns. Someone mentioned a lot of sleep...but when I get a lot of sleep I actually feel more anxious many times...due to having a lot of energy. Good luck and do your best to ride the waves of anxiety for now and not get sucked under them. For me I just have to remind myself its toxin related and I shouldn't let it get to me and just keep my breathing deep and steady. Rebuild your nervous system with a nourishing diet and healthy fats. If your taking any supplements with iodine consider stopping them...or cutting them back a lot and seeing how you feel. A lot of us need iodine but it can give very bad symptoms from all of the toxins it can release from the body. Also, try EFT: http://www.mercola.com/forms/eftcourse1.htm I found that caffeine increased my anxiety at work, so I broke my caffeine addiction a couple of years ago and that helped. Good luck! Well You are going to have to do something about the amalgams. I'm sure you know this by now but silver amalgams are all roughly half mercury and it certainly gets into your body, especially your organs and your nervous system. The book I read that finally made go ahead with it was " Its all in your head " by Hal Huggins. All of his patients wouldn't notice any improvement until there was not a single amalgam left in their mouth. I was already in debt, but I just got a 0% interest credit card and found the best dentist I could to replace them. It was like $3000 for 10 amalgams + a few additional composite fillings. That was 2 years ago and my anxiety is a lot better now...it never reaches the intensity it used to. Its definitely tolerable, and I am sleeping better and more steadily than I have in my entire life. Since then my life has changed immensely internally and externally, and I view it as the most important step turning around a whole lifetime of feeling 'not right'...meaning I certainly am not 'sick' but something has always been off. The biggest piece of advice I can give you is do not push your body physically by exercising too much. Its happened to me and many others. I thought discipline was the way to overcome my depression and anxiety and practiced the martial arts before getting my fillings out and now I see it only made it much worse and wore my adrenals down. I still haven't recovered from the damage I did from that, and know other people who did the same thing. Gentle exercise is great, but I would stay away from jogging, running, etc until you start feeling less anxiety. Be strong and just ask yourself if there is anything more important to you than good health. -

Guest guest
If you want to beat anxiety, cut out the carbs, eat more fat, make sure you're getting a little unrefined sea salt, and don't undereat. If mercury really is the issue, taking 20 drops a day of 35% food grade hydrogen peroxide for a few months should help detox it. Start out with just a couple of drops in a glass of water, and add 1 extra drop every week or so. I never had much problem with anxiety until I became a low-fat raw vegan. Then it got bad fast. Eat your animal fats, and get off the carbs. mike
Guest guest
Feeling alone and anxious is terrible. I'm sorry that you are in that place right now. I've been there too often myself, but just reading this list helps remind me that we are not alone. (Thanks for *unknowingly* lending me a little of the support people have sent your way!) As for my advice, I don't think there is a magic diet or supplement that will be foolproof. Just try to bring good things into your body, and into your mind. Relax. Don't let food stress you out, enjoy it! Good luck
Guest guest
I have bad anxiety too. Things that help me are controlled breathing, deep in my diaphragm. Don't hold your belly in as your mother taught you (I can remember mine yelling at me at age 11 to suck my gut in and quit being a slob). The EFT thing works wonders. It seems kooky and stupid but it's not. Just keep doing it over and over again and say the positive reinforcements. You don't even have to believe them right now. You've already have gotten diet recommendations and I agree with them. And I am just discovering that many of my problems are likely due to adrenal exhaustion/mercury issues so I am working on those. I used to get this tea, but it's not organic, called Tension Tamer. It has Chamomile and Cat nip in it. I think the catnip was the big help though chamomile is used in homeopathy an herbal remedies for anxiety and other issues like that. I found an organic version of those medical teas they have at the health food store (had a free coupon too). I had a bad bad fight with my mom. happens often, and I was really bad off and I took the tea and did some relaxation stuff including the EFT and it really helped. I hope you feel better. Please let me know if you need to talk! Sometimes just having someone there to listen or read about your problems helps. It does wonders for me and the bad relationship with my mother and I have my husband and friends who listen. Take care and don't lose hope!! Guest guest
There is some debate on whether or not GABA can cross the blood/brain barrier, but I feel like it brings me down from caffeine highs and has helped other times. It helps break down adrenaline. The supplements are really cheap, like $3 a bottle. Rooibos tea contains a serotonin reuptake inhibitor that lasts for 6 - 8 hours and is supposed to be non-addictive. So if you need more serotonin, that may help, especially if you have a little chocolate or something that boosts serotonin first. What the reuptake inhibitor does is keep it circulating for longer, so you get more mileage out of your serotonin. Anytime adrenaline is up, you can try some hard exercise to work it off. It's the " fight or flight " response and for some exercise is the best way to burn it off. I hope this helps! > > Does anyone know of herbs or food that would get me through high > anxiety? Guest guest
Try Kava-Kava. Also, taking Magnesium Citrate especially at bedtime will help...take to bowel tolerance, but it must be Mg Citrate, not oxide as the citrate salt is the one that has been shown to be calming. Taking fish oil can help as can a high saturated fat diet. Go to http://www.theroadback.org/ This site is to help you get off pharmaceuticals such as anti-depressants and anti-anxiety drugs, but has a ton of information you may find helpful. Something else that was recommended to me while I was coming off the drugs was Bach's Flower Essences. I could not afford them but there are a lot of testimonials to how well they work. Guest guest
Bach Flower Essences are under $10 a bottle, and you use drops at a time, making them very cost effective. Guest guest
Have you looked at homeopathic remedies or Bach Flower Essences? Although Rescue Remedy is one used for anxiety, I bet there is one more specific for hopelessness. You need to determine which one yourself, though. Guest guest
, you may want to take the free form amino acids that Darman speaks of. Take them on an empty stomach (2-4) capsules at a time at least twice during the day. They work very fast to elevate the mood and to lower anxiety attacks and tremors. Ask for an amino blend of free form amino acids at you local health food store. Bill Parashis <artpages@...> wrote:
Guest guest
I think there is truth to this. I can't vouch for ingesting the food grade hydrogen peroxide -- that may be harsh for the digestive tract. But reducing carbs and eating more fat will help your gut, which will help reduce anxiety and promote well-being. Bone broth will also help your gut -- it heals the lining and makes it more hospitable for the beneficial flora. The other thing I think you need to add is fermented foods and probiotics. Since I have increased my fermented food intake and started on a probiotic, I have a constant sense of well-being and no anxiety or depression. Important to note -- serotonin is produced in the gut. A good book to read is Gut & Psychology Syndrome by Dr. Natasha McBride. Guest guest
I second the recommendation to get rid of the mercury. I had anxiety problems until all my fillings were removed, I chelated and my gut was recolonized. Because mercury is eliminated through the bile, it kills off your gut bacteria. It seems to me that the lack of good bacteria had a direct effect on my anxiety. -Lana Well You are going to have to do something about the amalgams. > > That was 2 years ago and my anxiety is a lot better now...it never > reaches the intensity it used to. >
