Matt,

Long story short. If you are a PTPP, every therapist needs an individual

NPI and then the group as a whole needs another NPI.

If you are otherwise organized as a HHA, CORF then there are some very

different scenarios that play out.

Also, you can complete the process online and have your NPI in about 90

seconds. The Group number takes about 10 minutes.

Subject: NPI question

Okay, I have my application for my NPI number and I have a general question.

I own a clinic that is a S-corp. We have a clinic that is re-opening in Bay

St. Louis, MS and we will be keeping a clinic in Kiln, MS. There will be a

therapist at each clinic.

Do I need to fill out for the individual NPI number for each person or do we

fill out the bottom part for " Organizations and Groups " .

If this is portable for each individual, then why do they have an

" Organizations and Groups " secton?

Matt,

I have a solo practice, but had to get a Medicare group number when I used

another PT in my practice temporarily. Therefore, I had to get both an

individual NPI and an organizaional NPI. Also, the phone number for NPI

questions on the online application was answered promptly when I called.
