Guest guest
Hi Debbie, And I thought I was young at the age of 34 to have a stroke, obviously not. I too, am partially paralyzed on my left side. How much function did you gain back after therapy? I need a cane to walk, need a wheelchair for long distances that need to be walked, and have little use of my left hand. Ruth Re: Talk Ruth, i had a stroke at age 9 i was on the playground at school playing kckball as i ran to second base i passed out and was sent to the hospital woke up paralized on my left side the next day. much therapy and one year later i was found to be diabetic. the rest is history. no knights in white satin here. Guest guest
Ruth, Did you have you stroke because of an aneurysm? You too Debbie for the same reason? Most of the people I saw when I was an RN who had strokes that young had them because of an aneurysm. Guest guest
Hi , I have the Medtronic MiniMed 508 insulin pump, and as far as I know prefilled cartridges are not available for it. For convenience, my wife fills them when I change infusion sights, and prefills them if she is going away on a business trip. Guest guest
Ruth, I struggled with why would a guy want a blind woman? he is very good looking and a lot of woman were after him. then he meets me who is newly blind and not giving up making the most out of life and falls in love, smile. I think I fell in love with him the first time I heard him sing. He asked if I had any request the first time we met. I asked if he knew Wise Man Say only fools fall in love by Elvis. he said it was also one of his favorite. there was no turning back, smile. but a big plus is he is a wonderful cook too ha ha. that is o k I clean up the dirty dishes. he is fantastic with the grandchildren and a dream to my mother. Guest guest
Hi , Remember beauty is in the eye of the beholder. These guys are certainly special! In our house, it is the opposite. My husband can't cook, so I do and he does the dishes. His fat tummy tells the story about my cooking and baking. And your right there is a lot to smile about when we think about these men! Guest guest
Hi , No, I had my stroke because of dehydration. I think there was a little more to it than that though. The main cause was dehydration, but then there was my drugs from my transplant that made my blood sluggish, they also made my colesterol levels go up and last but not least my diabetes made me more prone as well as the fact that diabetics have sticky blood. All combined to make a clot equalling a major stroke. So, remember everybody - DRINK YOUR WATER! Coffee, tea, milk, pop, or juice doesn't cut it. Guest guest
They put on a drug called motilium. It is not available in the U.S., so I have to purchase it through a Canadian pharmacy. I take 2 before each meal and it seems to make my stomach move so the food doesn't stay there. Also, I have to eat small amounts more frequently-which are a pain as I don't always have to eat between meals! But so far following this schedule for the last 6 weeks has calmed things down from where I was. Guest guest
I too am very lucky to have a good man-my second husband. I met him as I was at a pool party and was walking around the shallow end-and ran into him! He was a partially sighted guy also invited to the party. He loves to cook and I have to resist all he tries to feed me or I would be big as a house-and I do the dishes. Guest guest
Hi , I don't really know how strong my faith is in God but I think you start looking for answers as to why the blindness happened and then other things happen to make you think there has got to be something that is directing all of this. I find it also helps you to cope when other things don't at times. Ruth Re: Talk Ruth our men are wonderful and god given to us. but more basic than that. Guest guest
Hi Si, You are so right! I have friends where it is the husband who is blind. These are special people, no doubt! I guess why it seems so special is because the stats show that women tend to stick around or accept these problems more than guys do. The stats are that if a man becomes disabled during the marriage 50 percent of the women leave, and if the women become disabled during the marriage then - get ready for this - 99 percent of the men leave. Too bad it has to be that way, but for all those people out there who see us for the people we are - we applaud you!
