What does it mean when the group talks about " leaky gut " problems?

Has anyone tried using bovine colostrum? What has been the results?

Colostrum is touted as boosting, strengthening, and regulating the immune

system. It also is a cure for leaky gut and can have positive effects on

many diseases, so they say.

I have been taking colostrum since Sunday and haven't felt a bit different

yet.....Do you think this means it's not working?

I am sorry but I am sitting here laughing at this. I don't think I EVER felt

as badly as when I was detoxing at the start of it. I did not know I could be

as snotty, if you will pardon the language. Remember the caution, you CAN have

vomiting, diarrhea, nausea, chills, fever, any and all of the previous. I

thought the achiness, chills, runny nose and general funky feeling were

enough. You WILL come out of this but it may be awhile! In the meantime, ,

What dose is everyone on??

Also....it was commented to me that colostrum is best taken with a meal. It

is digested best as a food not a supplement.

I started on a combo supplement and have not had any problems.

NaturSeal

Colostrum (525mg)

Glucosamine HCL (675mg)

MSM(600mg)

I take it three times a day...with food.

It's only been a few days so I'll let you know how it goes.

My colostrum intake with the Colostrum6 is 4,500 mg. per day; MSM, I take six of

the 500 mg. per day and I take Enzymes to help quickly break down food so it

does not sit there and go rancid to the tune of six per day. This will be fun,

if admittedly expensive, to see the results of you, Donna and as you start

this. Love,

My instructions have always been to take my colostrum one hour before ingesting

the meal. I purchased a phamphlet for $9.95 at the health food store which was

worth every penny. It goes on to say that if you can't manage it at that time

due to a schedule conflict, it is so important to take it that take it anytime

that time rather than go without. I had to do that very thing all day

yesterday. Back on track today.

Okay you have my attention! I'm going to call around today about the colostrum6,

but what kind of enzymes are you taking? Sounds like that would be important

too. Thanks... T.

Donna,

I am taking Nature Seal Colostrum also. The one I am taking contains

only Colostrum - nothing else. I am following the doseage

instructions on the bottle which say to take 2-4 capsules twice a day.

I have started with three twice daily. I did notice however that the

instructions mention secifically to take on an empty stomach so that

is what I am doing.

By the way how much did yours cost? Mine cost $29.98 for 120 capsules.

You may call Jane at Wellness Alternatives, 435-656-4402. This phone

services home and office. Used to have an 800 number but I understand there

is a change in the works. I sent a check for $200.00 for the case. It

averages out to $16.00 each bottle with the postage included in this price.

When I ordered, they immediately sent me two with 10 on back order. The

rest came shortly. My friend here received hers all at once. Good luck!

, I think we are all individual and cannot answer for you; however,

I know my immune system is terrible - I have always caught every bug even

half way near me. Since being on a large dose of colostrum, I have been

lucky and seem to be able to escape these bugs going around. That

said, I DO get my flu shot!

Hi : Dean here. I tried colostrum for 3 or 4 months and can't say that I noticed any improvement while taking it. I also tried other immune system enhancers such as IP-6. It may have helped some -- not positive though. I'll be interested to hear other experiences with them.

, I have dermatomyositis and non-hodgkins lymphoma. I started taking the colostrum before I started chemo. I have had so few side-effects from the chemo that I am sure the colostrum is responisble. I take other things as well, but keeping my immune system boosted has gone a long way in my participation in life. They told me that when undergoing the chemo that I should stay away from large gatherings for fear of catching infections. Well, I go shopping; floor curling once a week(usually 40 or more in attendance), etc and have not caught one bug. If you need to boost your immune system you cannot go wrong with colostrum, as far as I am concerned. I take 5 every day. The week of my chemo I take 5 twice a day. HTH. Carol/Piney

Dear , If you are going to try colostrum, I would make a decision

to give it six months. This is not a pain killer or something where

you SEE a result. This is something to boost your immune system to

carry you through routine illnesses etc. and until you look back after

some period of time and say, "Boy, how did I go this long without a cold,

or sinus infection, or something," And if you are REALLY lucky, I

do honestly believe it can help in turning around a disease. I know

of someone that colostrum probably saved her life. Taking colostrum

is so subtle and subjective that unless you commit to giving yourself a

SEASON so to speak, I don't think you could possibly accurately determine

whether it is working for you. I liken that to staying on vitamins

two months and thinking you are making a sound decision. Best of

luck to you in your decision and experiment!

Thank you to everyone who responded regarding the colostrum. I think

I will try it for a couple of months and see how it goes. I will keep you

I've had problems with recurring sinus infections for years. Got

concerned about taking so many courses of antibiotics to cure them.

This time I decided to try CoQ10 and Colostrum instead. Must've worked

because the infection is gone. It's the first time I tried the stuff.

It took about a week and a half. CoQ10 helps your immune system produce

more interferon. The two seemed to work really well together.

It is the liquid that comes before milk in humans and animals--it is

the liquid that is rich in nutrients, protective factors, things that

help build/heal the intestinal lining... that's just a general

description. You can read about it online at www.kirkmanlabs.com

People who are using it are using it as part of a gut protocol--to

heal the gut.

If you go to www.kirkmanlabs.com, there is information printed online about

colostrum. I have used it on my son for almost a year, and his gut is healing

somewhat, I believe. Of course, colostrum is only one of many, many things

I'm using on him, but at least it is one supplement that I feel certain has

not hurt him in any way, and possibly is helping.

For what it's worth, I'm presently on colostrum, and have been taking

it with many other vitamins & supplements for the last two weeks in

preparation for amalgam removal.

The dose I've been taking has been 2 capsules at breakfast, and 2 at

lunch.

But I haven't been feeling any better; neither from the colostrum,

nor the rest of the supplements. Then, again, most things don't have

any effect on me, perhaps due to my toxin-clogged body.

Is this the maimonides colostrum? It's pretty potent and caused some

yeast/bacterial die off in Ethan, but it wasn't for more than a day

or so. I would suggest giving the colostrum a break for a few days,

then starting back up on it at a very small amount, and working up

very slowly.

Vicky,

Which brand of Colostrum are you using and how much?

I give my kids Kirkman's colostrom Gold 1/2 tsp. 2 x day and

haven't seen any negative reactions.

I liked Kirkman a lot and so did my son, but my pocket didn;t LOL.

Sam looks great on it :)

was thinking of trying kirkman's colostrum to boost my ds's immune

system untill I saw it only comes in liquid. My son won't take any

liquid or chewables. Pills, no problem, which is good. But now I

don't know what brand to buy. Every company says theirs is best.
