I use Dyna Whey in my practice but you can surely find other options. It grows quality tissue, as opposed to what carbs do. regards, Duncan Crow duncancrow/
Guest guest
I would love some advice on this also. I need to gain weight in recovering from an eating disorder. I know from past experience I can gain weight by eating loads of processed sugary crap, but now I want to do it in a healthy way. Suggestions? > > Over the past six months or so I've been going through a stressful > period in my life... and I lost a whole bunch of weight. Suggestions? One could try eating less fiber, more fat, starch, and unrefined sugars. If one is not trying to *specifically* gain fat, doing muscle-building exercises would help. Guest guest
I needed to gain some weight when I discovered NT 3 years ago. I just started eating all the NT foods - raw dairy, pastured eggs, coconut oil, sourdough breads, grassfed meats, lots of raw butter, cheese, etc. Wow, I felt so nourished after being a low fat vegan. > > Over the past six months or so I've been going through a stressful > period in my life... and I lost a whole bunch of weight. Guest guest
whenever i use plenty of whole fat milk products (i love yogurt), carbs, and healthy fats in my diet i put on weight pretty fast. i'm using the gaps diet right now and removing the carbs and dairy (except eggs) has made me loose weight...even though i didn't want to. ________________________________________________________________________________\ ____ Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Mobile. Guest guest
> > Hi group, > > I am a 57 year old woman and have been on the GAPS diet for about 10 weeks for life long digestive issues. I had a stool test done not long ago which did not show any candida, but neither did it show any lactobacilli in spite of eating lots of sauerkraut, 24 hr. fermented yogurt, beet kvass, etc. I strongly suspect I have candida because of the reactions I've been having to the no carb diet. I'm small and thin, and have lost at least 10 pounds since beginning the diet. I look like a skeleton, and am scared because I'm dealing with osteoporosis. I've been eating bone broth, avocados, creamy homemade yogurt, kefir, meat, eggs, lots of low carb veggies, crispy nuts, homemade mayonnaise, but still am so thin. What can I do to turn the weight loss around? +++Hi Heidi, Welcome to our group. Many other people have come here after trying the GAPS diet since it isn't successful in getting people healthy, for many good reasons you will understand after reading my articles. Stool tests cannot be conclusive for candida, so you need to take Dr. Crook's candida questionnaire instead - see this article for the test: http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/articles/intro3.php Weight loss isn't a measure of whether you are getting " proper nutrients " when you are so unhealthy, since your body needs to use all of its energy and resources in order to get healthy instead of building up muscles and fat. As you progress your weight will normalize like it has for me and many people on my program. Even if you didn't have candida this program would improve your health, including your digestion. Please ensure you read two important articles so you understand candida, and know what you need to do and why: 1) How to Successfully Overcome Candida http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/articles/intro2.php 2) Curing Candida, How to Get Started http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/articles/intro1.php For encouragement and inspiration see these wonderful Success Stories by members of this group: http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/success/index.php The best in health, Bee
