Guest guest
Thanks so much for the advise to put on coconut oil as sunburn protection while on vacation in Florida. It worked beautifully! I went from ghost white to a perfect tan without burning at all, even though we would spend hours and hours in the direct sun. The only time I used some regular sunblock was when we were out on a boat fishing for hours, and I noticed my shoulders feeling hot. My sunblock loving friends who started out worrying I was going to get a bad burn wound up using the coconut oil the last couple days... they had remained pretty pale next to my great tan. Do we still get vitamin D when using the coconut oil on our skin? Thanks again! Judy
Guest guest
Has anyone noticed that they do not sunburn anymore when eating a healthy diet without any sunblock other than maybe eating some coconut oil sometimes? It is really odd recent experience for me. I play a lot of beach volleyball and used to burn if I did not use sunblock. I eat some coconut and use coconut oil as a skin lotion too. I am relatively light skinned. I can be out in the sun for 5-7 hours now in Los Angeles at the beach on an 80 degree day and only get a little color which goes away by the next morning. In the summer, I will burn, but way less than before.
Guest guest
No, that is not the case for me. I burned on my neck a few weeks ago when we had a really gorgeous day! I did only burn on the back of my neck on an area that usually is not exposed. My arms and face didn't burn, though. I do consume alot of coconut oil, but don't use it topically. Kathy ---- " W. Guest guest
My MIL said she went to Costa Rica and for the first time ever, did not burn at all in the sun. She did not use sunblock. She said the only thing she changed in her diet was adding cod liver oil (1/2 tsp per day). Ann Marie On Mar 18, 2008, at 11:29 AM, W. It is really odd recent experience for me. The only dietary change I've seen make a difference in sunburning or not is the Vitamin D intake with my children. When I started getting disciplined about getting Vitamin D in them everyday, even my most fair-skinned one stopped burning and we weren't using sunscreen. Of course, we're up around 41* latitude, so it might not be as protective for someone further south, but it sure did make a difference for us here. --s
