Guest guest
Dear All, Yesterday I came to know of an unusual event from a local oriya daily " Sambada " . One person was operated for hydrocele. After few days he had high fever not responding to antibiotics. He was found HIV positive. Now the dillema is what would happen to those one or two patients who had been operated soon after the hydrocele operation in the same theatre with the same set up and health personnel and what about the health staff involved during operation and during postoperative care of the patient? Usual sterilisation procedures etc and other steps were taken in the OT. Still there is suspicion and fear and each and every operation one can't force anybody to go for HIV test. Yes, another fact is that the socalled patient had donated blood to two patients both of whom died soon after the blood transfusion. What is your opinion and how to prevent such an event?
