Guest guest
Hi Roni...I bought a book on wheatgrass last year and it's very interesting. There are lots of benefits from wheatgrass, but it's definitely recommended drinking 2 to 4 ounces tops b/c it's also very potent and " more " is not " better " . I always juice (veggies and fruits), but I only have wheatgrass when I'm in Whole Foods (or a place with a juice bar). You need a special machine to juice it yourself (cannot use the regular juicer) and it's more time consuming to clean than the regular juicer also. I try to have a glass at least once a week. Hope this helps a bit. Judy (Keels)
Guest guest
I knew I had just read something about wheatgrass and here it is. This is part of an interview between Sam Biser and Dr, R. Schultz previously posted either here or the Dr. group by another member....hope this helps.... How to make wheatgrass juice to detoxify yourself. BISER: What does a reader have to know to get going on this? It sounds powerful. SCHULZE: They might have to grow their own wheat grass, and actually purchase a wheat grass juicer, or something they can juice with. If they don't have a wheat grass juicer, just soak the wheat grass in water and blend it up in your blender and drink it, grass and all. Anybody can grow wheat. You grow wheat and it just grows into grass. You can grow it yourself. It's very easy to grow yourself. You just buy wheat, and you take organic wheat kernels, and you soak them for a few days until they actually sprout. You can soak them for about 24 hours and then put them into a damp cotton cloth for another two or three days, until the wheat sprouts, and then you can just make them like other sprouts. Rinse them in water two or three times a day until they have tails on them about an inch long, and then you can go ahead and plant them right in the soil. Some people plant them right away and then just keep the soil damp the first couple of days, and you grow your own wheat grass. Now you have what looks like your front lawn in a tray in your house. What do you do with it? Well, you can run it through your juicer. A lot of people think you have to have a wheat grass juicer. A wheat grass juicer just gets more juice out of the wheat grass. There are hand-operated ones and there are electric ones. The hand-operated wheat grass juicers are about $70-80, and the electric ones are usually $300, but you could run the wheat grass right through your Champion juicer. You can just cut it up and even soak it with water and put it in a blender. I've had many patients in areas just take the wheat grass, cut it up and put it in a blender, fill that blender with water and blend it up and you'll get a greenish water. Or, you can run it through your juicer with other things like carrots, and it gets caught up in your juicer. So wheat grass is something that everybody should consider as a medicinal cleansing and building juice, very bitter tasting. Start out with a little bit. I suggest people start out with an ounce a day and don't take it on its own. I like an ounce of wheat grass with 16 ounces of fresh carrot juice. It just gives the carrot juice a little greenish tint and it's very palatable. There is also what I consider the wheat grass cocktail, which is a base of apple juice with, say, about 12 ounces of apple juice, a couple of ounces of lemon juice, a thumb size piece of ginger and an ounce of wheat grass. One thing that is very interesting, is that lemon and lime tend to cover up the taste of wheat grass, which is good because a lot of people find it very strong to eat or drink, and lemon especially seems to cover up the taste. > Does anyone use wheatgrass in their treatment > protocol, I bought some wheat yesterday and am > planning to grow my own wheatgrass for my fiance with > bowel cancer. > > I was thinking of making it into a tea by boiling it > for 10 minutes but I wouldn't want it to lose its > nutrients. > > Nick > > ______________________________________________________________________ __ > Want to chat instantly with your online friends? Guest guest
I did the wheatrass, carrot juice regime for some time and in that time my tumors grew and multiplied. I pretty much lost faith in the juicing thing but that is not to say it wouldn't work for someone else. I certainly have read plenty of testimonials from people who swear it cured them or at least slowed things down. I seem to always come back to the idea that I have to find what will work for me with the understanding that our uniqueness rules out a magic bullet that will do the job for everyone. Trial and error, try something and if it doesn't work try something else. Thankfully those of us with carcinoid are blessed with more time to experiment than those people with more aggressive cancers. Guest guest
, in Norman 's " Juicing Fresh Vegetables and Fruits " book, he says to combine spinach and carrot for juicing. I don't know where your tumors are located, but if it is the breast the above is advised. Juicing helps to keep the ph balanced which is very important for recovery. Have you checked out the Hallelujah Diet? www.hacres.com My intention is to help you. patti I did the wheatrass, carrot juice regime for some time and in that time my tumors grew and multiplied. Guest guest
I drink a glass or so of the type of a powdered form of wheatgrass most days. I don't think I've had any reaction one way or the other. I've also had shots of fresh juiced wheatgrass and, though it tastes terrible, it seems okay. Guest guest
I use to get very nauseous from wheatgrass many years ago - even the smell was less than desirable. i always thought that was because of the amount of toxins being released too fast as a result of it making the system alkaline too fast. what works for me now is that i juice a few ounces of it, put just a splash of water in, a nice amount of fresh squeezed lemon, a dash of good quality salt, and cayenne. this blend of flavors goes down well and i haven't had nausea in quite awhile from it. probably because i'm much more alkaline. my body craves this stuff! cathy
Guest guest
Wheneve we drink an ounce or two of wheatgrass juice, we follow it with an ounce of water too because the taste is not too pleasant for us.
Guest guest
, You are correct. Wheatgrass is a powerful detoxer and can hit the system too hard. Your idea to mix it with something else is excellent. ar On Wed, 27 Feb 2008 14:26:09 -0000, " fishsalmon2001 " <cathykush@...> said: > I use to get very nauseous from wheatgrass many years ago - even the > smell was less than desirable. i always thought that was because of > the amount of toxins being released too fast as a result of it making > the system alkaline too fast. > > what works for me now is that i juice a few ounces of it, put just a > splash of water in, a nice amount of fresh squeezed lemon, a dash of > good quality salt, and cayenne. this blend of flavors goes down well > and i haven't had nausea in quite awhile from it. probably because i'm > much more alkaline. my body craves this stuff! > > cathy > > > > >
Guest guest
Hi - I'm new to this group, and haven't posted before, so just wanted to say in advance thank you for taking the time to consider my post. I'm , and I'm a pregnant mother of 2 children and have been doing WAP as best I can without going crazy for about 2 years. I'm wondering what people here know/think about wheatgrass juicing. I have a friend who grows and sells it, and I was thinking about getting an inexpensive juicer so I can start doing it regularly. I have had it the last 3 mornings and I do like it. I also love Dr. Shultz's green Superfood, just discovered it this pregnancy and boy has it helped out. I know there is a lot of information out there about wheatgrass, but I haven't seen anything from a WAP perspective. I'd love to hear people's thoughts. Thanks,
Guest guest
http://www.amazinggrass.com/organic-wheat-grass-powder.html a bit of info on wheat grass. http://www.amazinggrass.com/benefits-of-wheat-grass.html According to the wheatgrass website it says it is " whole leaf " not just from the juice. It also says it is gluten free. Can anyone explain how that can be? Where in the wheat plant is the gluten, if not in the grass blade? Just the seed? Guest guest
Yes, Amazing Grass products are gluten free. Our cereal grasses are harvested prior to jointing, before the grain forms and any gluten is present. We test for gluten and our products are enjoyed by people worldwide with gluten free diets including celiac disease Victor ________________________________ From: Marjij Sent: Fri, October 22, 2010 http://www.amazinggrass.com/organic-wheat-grass-powder.html a bit of info on wheat grass. http://www.amazinggrass.com/benefits-of-wheat-grass.html According to the wheatgrass website it says it is " whole leaf " not just from the juice.
