Yes!!!!!! I also have this problem. When I try to read for too long, I

have to place the book on the table and stand up to read. This looks very

strange from behind. Funny how we all develop different ways to cope. We

are an interesting lot, to say the least!!!!!!!

found to be quite effective. the drug is primarily used in the treatment

of parkinson's disease and recently they have begun to use it with

success for RLS. not that i'm opposed to video games.........wishing you

Barry,

Thanks for the info. I really don't know much about RLS. I just subscribed to an egroup list to see if can pick anything up on it. I don't usually have a problem after I've gone to sleep. Getting to sleep is the problem. Most of the time when my legs get jumpy it's a sign that it's time for bed, and if I immediately go to sleep, it usually does the trick. But, occasionally nothing helps and I can't stay still. I eventually head for the Pod Racing, I tense up every muscle in my body when I play the video games and then I can usually relax and go to sleep after about a half hour. I do believe it runs in families. My Mom, sister and brother have problems with jumpy legs.

Thanks, Becky

I thought I was the only one with this somewhat unusual presentation. Any body else suffer with this affliction? For those of you who may notknow about this condition (and most doctors don't) it's discribed in theliterature as a disorder characterized by sleep-disrupting unpleasant legsensations, often accompanied by daytime behavioral problems. It isassociated with increased age and body mass, smoking, lack of excersizediabetes and low alcohol consumption. There is no known treatment orcure. In all seriousness, this is a true condition just recently recognized. Prior to Becky's post I had just begun researching this and, if anybodywants to know what I find out, let me know and I'll send you the citesfor the references. When I get this, it wakes me up three or fourtimes/night. Looking at the list of "associations": I'm getting olderand larger but I can't help that. If I don't find a solution I'llprobably take up drinking because LOW acohol consumption seems to be acontributing factor. Becky, if you know more about this than I do,please let me know.BarryPlease visit our new web page at:http://www.wpunj.edu/icip/paThis past year had moderated a chat on arthritis at www.about.com on Thursday evenings and hopes to start up doing so again soon- we will keep you posted! I've had what sounds like this problem on and off for a few years.

Mine would usually keep me from falling asleep. I don't recall it

ever waking me up in the middle of the night so what I've had might

just be caused by anxiety, stress or the lingering effects of

caffeine.

Anyway, out of desperation I found two very unscientific ways to get

rid of it.

1. Tense all the muscles in your legs and feet and hold them tensed

for about 60 seconds. Then release. Don't squeeze your toes down or

you might get a " charlie horse " ! If your legs still feel a little

jumpy do it again.

2. Absolute last resort was to jab the lower thigh just enough to

hurt. I know this sounds stupid, but hey, it's worked. (Ladies - you

might care about the bruises).

If you still feel like you could run a few laps around the house, see

a doc.

moderator 2 cents: sort of like hit your toe with a hammer to get rid of a

headache:) or short circuiting the brains activites sounds like a good idea.

Hello Everybody:

after 5 months into tx, with minimal side effects, I am starting to experience severe discomfort when trying to go to sleep.

No matter how tired I am, my legs are causing me uncontollable urge to move my legs, causing severe loss of sleep and frustration.

My wife and dog are not happy either.

Has anybody experienced anything like that while on Rebertron tx?

Thanx

There is a medication for this as well. My sister-in-law takes it - don't

know what it's called - but the Rx bottle says " take one nightly for restless

legs " . You could ask you MD...

I have found that MSM helps me with this (sulfur).

Maybe epsom salt or epsom salt baths would be good too...

I don't know the answer to your question, but after three days of taking

500 mgs of magnesium oxide in capsule form, at night, it took care of my

problem with RLS.

I think sometimes the parasite cleanse can help, because parasites are consuming

so many of our minerals they leave us deficient..

Often one or more of the electrolytes help: magnesium, calcium, sodium and

potassium helps.

Magnesium in the form of Mag. Oxide (but sometimes people with weak adrenals

struggle with this as it uses up Stomach acid that the adrenals have a part in

releasing. For them Mag. Aspartate is good).

Epsom salts baths are excellent (2 tbs or Epsom Salts and 2 tbs of Sodium Bicarb

and a bit of olive oil - your skin will love it too!)

You can get some Potassium and Sodium from Dr Alkaniliser drink:

http://www.livingnetwork.co.za/network/balance_your_pH.html

I have found this to be helpful by keeping a glass next to my bed at night.

And calcium from supplements.

Make sure you have not got hidden heavy metals causing this problem like mercury

or other metals. You'd need a hair test or a syncometer test to help you there.

I have a question here. If the zapper kills worms, why do you need to

take all the other things to kill them? Would love to know.

The zapper current does not get into hard to reach places: inside the bowels,

testicles, eyes, under fillings etc.

Herbs take care of the bowel contents and other areas the blood reaches.

Plus, many worms and organs are coated in PCB's and other insulating toxins

making the current impossible to reach them.

For this only plate zapping helps.

My understanding is that the zapper affects the blood stream, not

internal organs, and the effects of the zapper cannot reach into the

digestive tract.

Hi:

Do you know if the herbs kill amoebas? and whar about the copper that leaches

out through the wet paper towel and into your skin. Will that later turn into a

copper toxicity in the body?

Thanks,

magnesium works for me. indeed, for me, RLS is an immediate indicator

of something else that is sapping my magnesium stores (e.g., PMS or a

gastrointestinal upset) - it took a number of months to figure this

out, of course.

i recently found a nice magnesium supplement from KAL that works

really well for me - KAL's once daily magnesium. when i feel that it

isn't quite enough, i also use mag citrate in the evening.

i find that food sources just aren't enough for my needs.

Thanks for the suggestions for RLS! My wife has this all of the time, so

based on these ideas I bought her a cal-mag supplement, and she hasn't had

RLS since.

My wife used to have mild RLS that was getting worse and her dad has

it very bad. When we switched to a NT/WAP diet, especially when we

removed refined sugars and carbs, reduced overall carb consumption

and stopped eating processed foods, it disappeared.
