Guest guest
I am a former ballet dancer. Appearances are deceiving- they are not at all healthy. My eldest daughter is in love with the ballet, and I am thinking of forming a dance club or troupe just so she can avoid all the anorexic and sexist nonsense. Sigh. If you read your history, many believe that Ballanchine was responsible for the eroticisation of the pre-pubescent female form. Prior to him, dancers had some muscle on them, and were allowed breasts. Desh ____________________________________________________________ Save for the future with great IRA Funds. The latter being rather full figured and the former being twigs. My neighbor is a ballerina for the Pacific Northwest Ballet and while slender, she isn't a twig and has hips, breasts and a butt. I don't know about her normal diet but the times I have been out with her and her husband she seemed to eat okay. -- Life is too short to wake up with regrets. Love the people who treat you right. Forget about the ones who don't. Believe everything happens for a reason. If you get a second chance, grab it with both hands. If it changes your life, let it. Nobody said life would be easy. They just promised it would be worth it.

The higher the level, the nuttier the body image thing. It goes for all the " aesthetic " sports like ballet, gymnastics but also weight sports like wrestling or fitness competitions (shudder). The problem is - if one likes those arts, of course one wants to be at the highest level. Otherwise it would be like loving baseball but aspiring only to Chicago-style 20 inch softball (which I love by the way - no gloves needed ! ) Connie > --
