Guest guest
I'm not sure on the garlic, but a great way to help with blood pressure is cucumbers! When my BP was elevated in my last pregnancy I started eating about 2 cucumbers a day and it helped me greatly. Guest guest
My midwives had me take 3 cloves of garlic daily to help with blood pressure. Also 100% of the RDA for calcium - up to 150% if you need it - calcium citrate. Half as much magnesium as calcium. Get your vit D from the sun if possible. It doesn't take much. Also take 2,000mg (2g) of vit C daily. Continue this after the pregnancy while breastfeeding. The most important thing you can do is eat enough protein. 80-100 grams of protein a day. You may have to use a protein shake to get this much. There are soy, dairy, and egg based protein powders available, and you can mix them with whatever you want. -Sara. I am trying to make a handout since in our Natural Family Planning/Fertility Awareness is the very first thing I recommend, because nothing is going to happen if the woman isn't ovulating, and this is the least invasive way to find out. It can give you an idea of all sorts of problems such as anovulation, mistiming when you think conception is possible, short luteal phase, and many other things. From there, get the woman on CLO and Concentrace, and work on nutrient density. Then you can work on the specific problems you find in the charts after 2-4 months and you can see the patterns. Guest guest
I agree. Singer's book and website on this topic is a must: http://www.gardenoffertility.com/ The other thing I would suggest is getting off the pill. Also suggest that they eat a nutrient dense diet, avoid white flour and sugar, and try to avoid soy in all forms. (Of course, Singer recommends these things, too.) I would give them some information about the dangers of soy, and also educate them about which foods have soy in them. Most people don't realize it but soy is in almost everything! I just looked at a container of Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream that was buried in the back of my freezer -- it had not just one but two kinds of soy in it: soybean oil and soy lecithin. Almost all restaurant food is cooked in soybean oil -- it's not just fast food. It's also in many olive oils -- including the gourmet extra virgin olive oils. I have read that as much as 90% of all olive oil on the market is adulterated with cheap vegetable, soybean, and other oils. Incidentally, according to Sally Fallon (and many others), you can tell if your olive oil is real if you put it in the fridge and it hardens into a solid. I tried this with 3 different oils and only one hardened into a solid. The other two were completely liquid the next morning. (The one that solidified was from a local olive farm; the other two were ones I bought at Trader Joe's and Albertsons.) Guest guest
My old acupuncturist used to treat many women for infertility and he had such a high success rate with them that they made up the majority of his practice. I was the odd one out going for liver issues. One thing he used to say (and I totally agree with based on my experience) is that the effects of the pill do last beyond when you stop taking it. It took me about a year to fully detox from it as well as to recover from the B vitamin deficiencies it is known to cause. One thing I noticed was that I made leaps and bounds detoxing from the pill (after months of stagnation) when I started taking Epsom Salt bathes regularly. -Lana On Mon, Mar 24, 2008 at 8:57 PM, louisvillewapf <louisvillewapf@...> wrote: > Friends, > If you had a couple who wanted help with getting pregnant, had been > trying for about 6 months so far unsuccessfully, eat okay (not WAPF, > not terrible, have been making changes for about 6 months as well), > what would you suggest? Lots of sex In addition to that, I would recommend against hot tubs and hot baths (at least for the man) and ice packs to the testicles or ice baths (tub with 6 pounds of ice in it) Soak 10 minutes to increase sperm count (if that is the issue). - ________________________________________________________________________________\ ____ Never miss a thing.
