Hello: I just joined this group because I have been contacted by a blind diabetic who cannot use the pen because he is allergic to synthetic insulin. He takes insulin 4 times a day and his wife is helping him now. He just takes 12 units of insulin at noon which she prepares for him before she leaves for work. He would like to be able to draw the insulin himself. I went to the LS & S website and they have a count a dose product available, description follows. I want to know if anyone is successfully using this device by themselves. I am aware of the talking glucometer. Any other suggestions are appreciated. Count-a-dose Enables visually impaired or blind diabetics to fill their syringes with a precise dose of insulin without outside help. Designed for use with B-D 50 unit (1/2cc) syringes. Fills in 1-unit increments. Easy to use, just a touch of the wheel makes a distinctive click to indicate prescribed dosage. Bottle holder fits two bottles of insulin (any brand) to make mixing simple. Insulin bottles are easy to identify by the markings on the side of the holder. Designed so the syringe needle penetrates each bottle safely and automatically. Made of shatterproof polycarbonate, the unit is lightweight and fits easily in the palm of your hand. Print and cassette instructions included. One year warranty. Not returnable. Bye for now Bob bob@...
