Guest guest
That's a book I will be looking into. The more I learn, teh more convinced I am that most, if not all my niggling health issues are due to lack of stomach acid. It seems every few weeks I run across some link - to h-pylori, hypothyroidsim, adrenal fatigue and --- In , Seay <entheogens@...> wrote: >This book, " Why Stomach Acid > Is Good For You " was instrumental in my COMPLETE > recovery: > http://www.amazon.com/Why-Stomach-Acid-Good-You/dp/0871319314/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8\ & s=books & qid=1207159088 & sr=1-1 >

She takes ginger tablets sometimes for indigestion. I've tried them too and they work pretty well for me, but kefir works faster and better for the rare indigestion that I get. I also like GT's gingerade kombucha, but I've never tried it for indigestion. I haven't seen or tried ginger juice, though I remember having ginger ale as a child. Real fermented ginger ale would be nice to try.

Is there an easy way to test for deficient stomach acid? My wife mentioned a test she had read about, where you take apple cider vinegar when you have indigestion. Supposedly if the indigestion goes away, then you need more stomach acid, but if the indigestion persists, you have too much stomach acid. She said when she tried this test the indigestion didn't go away. So, she thinks she has too much stomach acid. I can see how drinking liquids that are not as acidic as stomach acid should affect stomach acids by initially diluting them. Water would provide the strongest dilution since it is fairly close to neutral. Even coffee is less acidic than stomach acid IIRC. Kombucha and apple cider vinegar may be close to digestive stomach acidity. I've read that stomach acidity normally increases when you eat food and decreases on an empty stomach. So, highly acidic drinks may be hard on an empty stomach, especially if you have a tendency for ulcers. But maybe they would be helpful to drink as a digestive aid. Now, when I was at the peak of my stomach problems, apple cider alone did not do any good. Ok, best if you find an orthomolecular MD or a naturopath who knows how to test for hyperacidity. In lieu of that, you could do the following. First, make sure that she does not have an ulcer. You will have to get a doctor to test for that. If she DOES NOT have an ulcer, try adding Hydrochloric Acid tablets at the beginning of meals. Take one, eat a little, then take another eat a little. See if that helps. If you DO HAVE ulcers, DO NOT FOLLOW ABOVE protocol. In any case there is an herb that I HIGHLY recommend that will HELP relieve some of the problems. It is called Mastic gum. You can sometimes get it at Whole Foods or they can order for you. Take a couple of those. I HIGHLY recommend that you get that book " Why Stomach Acid Is Good For you " from Amazon (or elsewhere). http://www.amazon.com/Why-Stomach-Acid-Good-You/dp/0871319314/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie\ =UTF8 & s=books & qid=1207244101 & sr=1-1 Here is the website of the Doctor who wrote the book: http://www.tahoma-clinic.com/ You might even want to get a consultation with him. He says that at least 90 percent of those diagnosed as having hyperacidity do not. Look, I am not BSing you. I went through the hell of so-called GERD for two years and even started on the roller coaster ride of allopathic solutions (which work at first but then stop working and actually cause more problems). THIS THING CAN BE BEAT!!!! - Things fall apart; the center cannot hold; Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world, The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere The ceremony of innocence is drowned; The best lack all conviction, while the worst Are full of passionate intensity. -WB Yeats ________________________________________________________________________________\ ____ You rock.
