Guest guest
We did a root canal for my wife 6 years ago -while she was pregnant (we did not know any better at that time), and bingo, last night, when she was eating, she just sensed something was wrong. She felt like she bit a stapler pin. What we figured was the root canal tooth may have chiped/cracked. We were able to, thankfully, get an appointment with the dentist today itself. He said, because we did not put a crown/cap on the root canal at that time(financially influenced decision at that time), the tooth just broke off, after this while. He said it was not a very bad crack, and he removed the part of the tooth that was broken. he said it was probably 15% of the whole tooth. He recommended that we put on a crown cap asap. Is putting the cap the best option now. (That way we can have the natural tooth, for chewing etc.)? Are there any other options we are not thinking of? Thanks for any ideas. -Dan. Guest guest
Capping it will not long term fix the problem, IMO. I went in for a consult yesterday on my two front teeth (double root canals when I was around 12 years old). My body is reabsorbing them and they are compriming the bone structure. Best option (and SOMEONE PLEASE CORRECT ME IF THIS IS WRONG) is to get titanium implants. Bone grafts to them effectively so if they take well you will hopefully almost permanently fix the problem... Only drawback is that they are expensive, but for us, I would rather have a one time large expense than lots of moderate expenses for the rest of my life and the comfort of knowing that I have hopefully solved all the long term health problems root canals contribute to. Guest guest
Root Canals can be very dangerous, and from what I've read should never be done and if they are done they should be removed completely. They are a dead tooth and and stuff they use to fill in where the pulp used to be rarely fills it in %100 and can allow pathogenic bacteria to grow inside your tooth, creating very potent toxins. Please don't ignore something like this, it can wreak havoc on your wife later on and needs addressed. http://webpages.charter.net/kyarbrough/rootcanals.htm - > > We did a root canal for my wife 6 years ago -while she was pregnant > (we did not know any better at that time), and bingo, last night, > when she was eating, she just sensed something was wrong.
