Guest guest
Does anyone hear speak USDA meat jargon? I am trying to cut down on calories in order to lose body fat (the Colpo plan), so I am switching from grass fed beef to (so the meat counter guys at the store claim) grass fed bison, which is leaner. I am eating rib eye steak. FitDay, the calorie counting website that I rely on, has this description for bison rib eye Game meat, bison, ribeye, separable lean only, trimmed to 0 " fat, raw What does 'separable lean only, trimmed to 0 " fat' mean? The steaks I buy don't have fat around the outside, but when I cut into the muscle meat, there are pieces of fat in the steak. I am not against eating fat, but I do want to accurately record my calorie consumption. Does 'separable lean only, trimmed to 0 " fat' imply that one discards the pieces of fat when eating the muscle meat?
