I have untagged this thread OT. This is not off topic at all, even

though people are telling personal stories.

I didn't really expect anyone to read the Freire, but really, blaming the

poor for being lame without deeper psychological and socio-economic

analysis is just amazing.

, every time that someone brings up not being able to afford

something organic on this list or discussingnt, they are summarily

slapped down, and told they aren't trying hard enough, or that someone

else would never stoop to such depravity. We are never allowed to share

strategies about being poor and doing traditional foods in our less than

perfect way, without being told that we should just cut out luxuries and

are not doing enough, etc. This list fields topics about irradiated and

industrial food as if it were only a hypothetical situation, which for

many of us it is not sometimes. It would be nice if poor folks could

share where WAPF ideas don't work for them, even though we might accept

them as ideals, so that others searching the list could benefit from our

experience, and, dare I say, expertise.

Some people on limited incomes have to pay rent, and don't have the

option of a mortgage on a duplex to cover that expense- which frees up

considerable money for organics and insurance. It is a good strategy-

and in fact we are hoping to buy the double row house we live in, and do

the same.

Forming a WAPF chapter is not an option for a breastfeeding mother. I'm

glad you get deals out of the Louisville farmers- the ones at the

Lexington Farmer's market sure don't like to deal at all- and then

there's the fact that one must have the money to buy in bulk. I hear

about amazing stuff out in the country, but keep having stuff fall

through.
