Guest guest
I'd say ask to get it repeated to see if it's high again. One thing I've read about lab work in general is that it can vary widely from one day to the next, and mistakes are also pretty frequent. Maybe that day you got equipment that was on the fritz or a new person who didn't know how to do it right or something. I've also heard of samples being accidentally switched. Then there are biochemical things - like if you got more or less exercise than they recommend (did you go up several flights of stairs to get there?) your body could be doing a temporary response - making more sugar available to your muscles. Last, Philpott in his book " Brain Allergies " mentioned that exposure to allergens can make blood sugar fluctuate wildly - from very high to very low, sometimes both in the space of an hour. If they had you chug that nasty flat soda stuff, what were the ingredients? High fructose corn syrup and artificial colors and flavorings? > > I wanted to get people's opinion. I would get it done again before worrying as lots of things can make the results fluctuate. Remember also that it is not that high. It's high enough to keep an eye on, but not enough to be freaked out. An adrenaline rush, allergy exposure, stress, exercise etc, could raise it. Guest guest
I borderline flunked my first gtt when pregnant. . . .the second was fine. That sugar soda is awful. I did wonder if the effects were different for folks who never eat hfcs or eat refined sugar. Desh

I LITERALLY have been losing sleep about this. I went back and looked at what my glucose was last year. It was 98. That's still on the high side, though in range, so, as you say, it's definitely something I need to keep my eye on. Stress could definitely be what's causing it (I tend to be a stressed person), because I really dont see anything in my diet (save for my carb meal periworkouts) that could be the culprit. I will indeed have it retested in a few weeks. Things fall apart; the center cannot hold; Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world, The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere The ceremony of innocence is drowned; The best lack all conviction, while the worst Are full of passionate intensity. -WB Yeats ________________________________________________________________________________\ ____ Never miss a thing.
