hi, i am hoping someone can shed some light on what is going on with me. this is

probably TMI, but bear with me, please. :) i have been having uncontrollable

bowel issues where i cannot even get to the bathroom in time. i have noticed

this happening when i drink too much kombucha in one sitting or kefir on an

empty stomach, or like today i had kefir after breakfast, but it was a very ripe

kefir, meaning very bubbly. it also happens when i eat too much coocnut oil in

one sitting and since i do not consume CO very much these days, 2 T. in my soup

seems to do me in. why am i not able to absorb this stuff and why does it seem

to just fly right through me? should i be consuming a much smaller quantity of

fermented things? or is there something else possibly going on?

thanks for any thoughts.

Sounds like gut dysbiosis (damage or imbalance of intestinal flora), and

like you'd need to heal some first and work into the ferments gradually.

Dr. Natasha -McBride did a fantastic pair of lectures at the WAPF

conference this year.

To download or order on CD Dr. Natasha -McBride's 2-part lecture on

" Gut and Psychology Syndrome " go to the Weston A. Price Foundation website

http://www.westonaprice.org

and click on the link at the top of the box beneath the log that says

" Order recordings from the 2007 conference "

Dr. Natasha's lectures are numbers 6203 and 6219 .They are $13 each to

download, slightly more sent on CD. FYI there is a 30 minute introduction

to WAP

by Sally Fallon in 6203.

Her book " Gut and Psychology Syndrome " can be ordered from

http://www.guthealth.info/

An email group on the subject is:

leaky gut syndrome

Is this just the last few days? There's a stomach virus going

around the Northeast.

What supplements are you taking? Vitamin C and magnesium can cause

that, especially on an empty stomach or when you've gotten enough.

Do you drink raw milk? It is great for curing diarrhea, and will

help with gut dysbiosis too.

Is the consumption of fermented foods a new thing you're trying? Too

much too soon can cause die-off in the gut and lead to that. Some

recommend starting with a little bit and working your way up to

higher amounts gradually over time. If that's the case, at least

it's a good thing!
