EU call for India - Europe partnership on poverty-related diseases

Dear All,

I am looking for Indian partners to establish a network for the EU

call, within the FP7, specific for Health research projects between

Indian and European partners.

As you can see below the just published call is aimed to

International ation focused on the three major PRD (poverty-

related diseases).

HEALTH-2007-2.3.2-12: Highly innovative research in HIV/AIDS, malaria

and tuberculosis between Indian and European partners.

- Projects should explore new concepts and ideas in the area of

poverty-related diseases research, which are of particular relevance

for the cooperating countries, and where joining research activities

are expected to generate synergies. Other ICPCs are also encouraged

to join. Specific International ation Action. Targeted Region:

India. Funding scheme: Collaborative projects (Small or medium-scale

focused research projects).

Although the overall focus of the call 2.3.2. includes diagnostic

aspects as well as new therapies/preventive tools (vaccines and

microbicides) with a base-science component along with a pre-

clinical and phase I clinical trial, the call 2.3.2-12 is a

small/medium-size focused project. In this respect we could focus/

contribute to an application on the following aspects:

- molecular characterization of HIV clades circulating in India;

- optimization of lectines-based high-avidity microbicides (Belgium)

including protein-based VLPs vaccine candidate;

- pre-clinical studies on Indian macaques;

- phase I clinical trial.

We could involve at least other 3-4 European Institutions and a

research group from Singapore. Indian partners should be involved at

all clinical, pre-clinical and possibly at pharmaceutical production

stages.
