According to my 2006 CPT code book, phonophoresis CPT code 97035 and

Iontophoresis 97033 are billed as timed units /15 minutes. (and yes, I have

ordered a new one....)

One of the outpatient clinic managers was under the impression that these

modalities were untimed and thus could be done and charged for in addition to

whatever timed procedures were provided. Can someone clarify which is the case

currently?

Carol,

Both of these modalities are timed codes and fall in to the same minutes

calculation as Ther. Ex, Manual Therapy, etc.
