Guest guest
I got my " fetal anatomy " ultrasound today! First things first - it looks like a girl. My midwife said the placenta is at the very top of my uterus and looks to be a good size. The cord has excellent blood flow and is extremely thick - bigger than baby's ankles and maybe as big as her thighs! All three of us (midwife, daddy and I) stared at it for a while - it was just sooo thick and intricate looking on the ultrasound. All in all the midwife said baby looked very, very healthy so far. I think she's looking forward to the delivery as much as I am! Oh, and my due date is right on according to the measurements. Yay! -Lana
Guest guest
Congrats!! =) My son refused to let anyone see his anatomy. It was a running joke. First he had his hand covering it, then he was curled up in a ball upside down so we could only see his backside. They tried 3 times but I didn't want to do a bunch of ultrasounds as I'm not sure of their safety. He was healthy and that's all I needed to know but there was one disappointed daddy and grandparents because they were all dying to know. Did you get pictures to take home? We did when I went in because of some bleeding. The technician wanted to cheer me up I guess and we got our first glimpse of our son. And the first thing she saw and took a photo of was one HUGE FOOT! =) He is wearing toddler size socks/shoes at 6 months. Please keep us updated. And thanks for all your advice off list! =) Dawn From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of Lana Gibbons Sent: Friday, March 07, 2008 1:47 PM Subject: Baby Update I got my " fetal anatomy " ultrasound today! Guest guest
Thanks Dawn! I got some pictures to take home, but none of them were that great. I did actually get a videotape of the whole ultrasound session though - so right now I'm trying to figure out if I can borrow a video capture unit from someone so I can get it on the PC so I can take some better snapshots. I want a pic of that cord! Wow, those are big feet! Sounds like he'll end up pretty tall. It looks like my little one will be pretty small according to the measurements (although, I'm surprised because it looked like she had little to no room in there and I'm supposedly exactly where I should be for 21 weeks). I didn't get to see her feet or hands really. She's got her knees up to her chin and her hands above her head like she's crawling around in there. She was blinking at us and making movements with her mouth - it was so cool!! I'm gonna go pop the tape in to watch it. -Lana > Did you get pictures to take home? Guest guest
the names are lovely but be forewarned... I had been adamant on a name for my son through the entire pregnancy. When I held him, the name just didn't feel right and I changed my mind. Keep your woman's perogative open. God Bless your family.. Guest guest
Savor the moment Mom. Stay positive, reserve your energy, rest up, eat healthy, get your exercise. A very elder wise women once told me: Having them is a breeze, raising them is where you separate the girls from the women (and wow, was she right!)
