Did someone here post about " Diatomaceous Earth?? "

Something about how it would cut through candida and even farmer's will mix

this with animal feed to kill parasites etc...

well, I asked my friend who is a veterinarian just to double check before I

spent $20 ordering some

this is what he said.....

Jen; unless there is a course mix of this stuff. It does not do those

things internally.

Piled on a bug or critter on the ground it might dehydrate it enough for it

to die.

I do not believe that it will kill parasites internally. I suspect that

Kaolin is almost the same thing and may be identical. It is in

Kaopectate. You probably have taken a lot of it at one time or another.

I think some one is dreaming up properties that do not exist.

Investigate it a bit and let me know what you find.

If you do order this make sure it's food grade only or get the K-Min

supplements . There is a non food grade Diatomaceous Earth that

should not be eaten .

There are 2 grades of DE, food/agriculture and filter. Filter grade

is heated/treated/ground larger. It will not not kill

insects/parasites, but it could kill your critters. Filter grade is

used in swimming pools and many other uses not for consumption.

Food grade DE is available in feed stores and organic

nurseries/garden centers. It is 100% DE and white in color. Health

food stores also carry it. Can't say I'd do the same, but some folks

sprinkle it on their morning cereal for better digestion!

Food/agriculture grade DE is approved by the FDA, EPA, USDA, AMDA,

and is in many of the products you consume ~ flour products like cake

mixes, Bisquick, etc., toothpaste, vitamins (for the trace minerals),

etc. Anytime you see 'inert' contents and the product contains

an 'anti-caking agent,' it's probably DE.

I posted the mineral content, but I'll do it again for you:

Diatomaceous Earth is a natural (not calcined or flux calcined)

compound with many elements which include:

Silicon Dioxide, Aluminum Oxide, Iron Oxide, Calcium Oxide, Magnesium

Oxide, Other Oxides.

Semi quantitive spectrographic analysis of some of the other

elements:

Copper 2ppm, Strontium 100ppm, Titanium 1800ppm, Manganese 200ppm,

Sodium 2000ppm, Vanadium 500ppm, Boron 50ppm, Zirconium 200ppm.

And I've found the food grade DE quicker than Amdro for taking care

of the fire ants!

DE is not a poison. It slits the outer skin of the insect/parasite

and dehydrates it . Read what people who use it say here

,

DE is sometimes used in livestock as part of a parasite control

program. When I have researched it for that use, some people say it

works great, others say it is too irritating and can damage the gut.

I'm not sure there is a clear verdict out there.

I have read that it can be used for that parasites and I have used it on my son for die off reactions. It has been very effective to mitigate detox. I have given it in small doses, about 1/4 - 1/2 tsp dissolved in water (or anything). I even tried it once myself and it was easy to swallow. I don't think it would harm your gut, but I have no science, just what I think, so you need a more expert answer.

Thanks Millie. I've been taking it for a week and haven't noticed any problems, but was told on another forum that it will harm my gut. My gut is already harmed, so I wonder if harming it a bit more in order to get rid of parasites and then CURING the gut makes more sense than letting the parasites sit there.

Personally, I'd want to know what types of parasites I'm dealing with, and then find an effective treatment specific to my problem. Some parasites will go away on their own just by healing your gut and having your diet not feed them.

I would like to know too, but my dr. gave me a stool test and it came back negative for every parasite and candida as well. My tongue is coated, I have continous yeast infections, digestive problems, allergies, etc. so I know the test is innaccurate (which I've read is often the case), so I'm kind of grasping at straws here trying to find a product to help me.

With that information, I would truly stick to the diet (and consider eliminating honey and fruit as well for the candida). The DE will likely make you worse, not better. Once your gut is healed and your body is working properly, that should take care of itself. Unfortunately, there just aren't any quick fixes. :(

I am of the exact same mind. Heal the gut and many things will take care of themselves. Tests won't show everything you have. The suggestion to go off fruits and anything that feeds yeast (fungal infections and bacteria and viruses as well) is a very good. I know that my son has had parasites (not shown on tests) and his appetite since a toddler was as though he had tapeworms, yet never overweight. At his worst, we were having to feed him full meals every 30 minutes to keep him functioning, it was truly insane. As he recovers, his appetite has become normal to low. I take this to be an indication that he is absorbing nutrients and the pathogens are dying off. The diet, done strictly, will starve out many many things. It really is the best attack and of course, eating as many quality fermented foods as possible so that good organisms can get in the gut and battle the bad.

One more thought, I have come to believe that things in the gut are very complex. IOW, if you target one particular pathogenic organism, others can multiply wildly and take its place. When my son was on prescription antifungals, he got very very bad b/c he got a terrible overgrowth of bad bacteria. Remember it's a battle in the gut and if you clear one out too fast, other bad ones can take advantage. So create first the environment for the good organisms with diet, while starving out the bad ones.

I am a holistic dog breeder and have been using Food Grade

Diatomaceous Earth for many years for my animals. Never use it if it

doesn't say " food grade " . I give each puppy about one teaspoon a day

and still I have to use other means to worm them. I think it helps

though. I wouldn't count on it alone for worming. I know many

dealers who have their entire families on it and have for a long time.

I had my autistic/seizuring son on it and he never had any side

effects from it. I have no idea if it did anything good although it

does have 15 minerals in it.

I think it is a wonderful product and sell it with almost every puppy

I sell. It is good for all bugs and is non toxic so it is a good

option for those of us trying to avoid chemicals. We have not seen a

single flea since we started putting it in their food. Their is more

testimonials and information on my website. Every home should have it.

I would be happy to help anyone.

Hi everyone,

I thoroughly enjoyed reading " Mad as a Hatter " in the Summer 2008 issue of Wise

Traditions.

I bought some food-grade diatomaceous earth from a garden supplier. I'd like to

hear about people's experiences detoxifying with diatomaceous earth. In

particular, has it

been successful for people in dry climates? I've been warned against consuming

clay in these parts, because it could lead to constipation here in the desert,

where

it's hard to stay hydrated! I took under a teaspoon one evening before bed the

other night,

and I was a bit constipated the next day, but all was normal by the following

day. I may not

have had enough water that day, so I'm going to try it again. Other than

potential

constipation, are there any negative side effects from taking this stuff? Will

it only pull the

metals from the digestive tract? Is it possible for it to pull from the blood or

for it to go

through the liver?

Hi, We (hubby & I, our dogs and cat) have been using the Diatomaceous Earth now

for about a year in one way or another. It has proven itself to us. I have put

the url below where we buy it for $27.50 for a 50# bag which we found the most

economical so we could share it with friends and relatives also. They have

product info on their site also ... this is just the link to the product &

prices part.

Hope that is helpful. Joyce Simmerman
