We just had everyone down with strep throat (picked it up in the ER, my

middle daughter broke her collar bone amonth ago) I made a homemade

antibiotic and it fixed everyone up but the baby, she was the only one who

ended up on antibiotics as she wouldn't take my homemade stuff (it does

taste aweful) but my homemade stuff cleared everyone else up just as fast as

the prescription antibiotics did. This makes enough for one person for 3

days. That was all it took for us but you could make another batch if

needed.

3 tbsp raw honey

1 tbsp echinacea tincture

1/4 cup colloidal silver

1/4 cup garlic tincture

Mix well and keep in fridge. Dosage is 1 tbsp 3 times a day.

I always gargle with hydrogen peroxide, salt and warm water several times a

day. I have also had good luck taking Propolis which is a natural

antibiotic the bees make.

Subject: Treatment for strep throat

I have been sick for a month now, it started out as a flu for a week, then

moved to a head cold for a week, then went to my lungs and ears with severe

coughing.

It has mostly cleared up now except the base of my tongue is VERY painful

and my ears still hurt. Talking and swallowing is difficult. My tonsils

and throat look normal. It's been bad enough that I've resorted to taking

some OTCs to try to help and get relief, and I haven't done that in years.

At this point I'm wondering if it's a strep or other bacterial infection.

Can someone tell me how best to treat this? Even among alternative sources

of information, all I can find is the recommendation for antibiotics.

I swear by grapefruit seed extract for my ears. I had a similar ear problem

after a recent cold. They were so painful, Icould barely hear and very sensitive

to sound. I mixed (per gse directions) 1 ounce rubbing alcohol and between 3 to

6 drops (can't remember now and can't find my bottle) gse. I did 1 drop in each

ear three times a day. The first day of treatment I started in the afternoon and

by the next morning the relief was so acute that I called all my friends and

told them about it!

Another friend who's used gse quite a bit over the years to control strep said

that you treat it like an antibiotic. Meaning that you use the tincture for at

least 7 days even if you feel better right away.

Definitely worth a try. Hope you feel better soon!

Just the colloidal silver, 1/2 tsp 3 times a day would do the trick, if you

don't have all the other stuff, all of which is immune building.

Kerry Ann,

Colloidal Silver is a natural antibiotic. Just make sure that you get some

strong enough to help. Look at the PPM, parts per million. I use 200. Many

at the grocery store are 5 ppm.

A few months ago ds14 got a sore throat that didn't develop into

anything else. After a week I " clicked " & figured that it must be

something more serious. My children have never had any conventional

medicine & wanted to avoid it if possible. I worried that I had left

it too late (the longer left the higher risk for permanent damage). He

drank acv, honey & cayenne to no effect. Then he tried a teaspoon of

colloidal silver (7ppm) he started to have relief within a couple of

hours. I got him to take it 3-4 times per day & he was better " in no

time. "

The homeopathic phytolacca decandra preparation I have says on the bottle

- sore throat, radiating to the ears, frequent need to swallow. You

would need a 30x I'd guess. When i take it, it helps the symptom but

I've never taken it for long enough to kick chronic infection. I planned

on harvesting some poke root last fall to make my own phytolacca tincture

(which is poisonous and is only givn in a one drop dosage), but never got

it done.

Goldenseal would also probably knock this out, but it is getting

endangered and expensive. Many health food store tinctures are weak.

I would also treat grapefruit seed extract like an antibiotic, in that I

would alternate probiotics while taking it and then megadose them after

the course was done. It's strong, and foul. . .

I had strep as a child, which they gave me antibiotics for over and over

again during fifth grade. The antibiotics never really killed the strep,

so I can't see resorting to them now. I had a couple bouts in my 20s

and took abx, but none full blown since I quit smoking and none full

blown since I quit abx. I have also had adult ear infections which I'm

told are related to this strep. I can keep it in check with my witchery,

but it feels like there is chronic low-grade inflammation in my tonsils.

Interestingly, we have been making kefir beer here, and it causes both my

husband's and my throats to be a little sore. I've drunk kefir for

years, but never in the quantity of two glasses.

I have a few ideas about the next step for us, but as usual I'm weighing

the cheapest route.
