Guest guest
Dear All, Greetings from FXB India Suraksha! Association François- Xavier Bagnoud (AFXB). AFXB is an international organization dedicated to the memory of François- Xavier Bagnoud, helicopter rescue-pilot, who lost his life at the age of 24 during a rescue mission in Mali. His mother, Albina Boisrouvray along with her family members founded Association FXB to keep alive the values of generosity and compassion that guided his life. Active in 18 countries, FXB runs 87 programs which aim to reduce the consequences of HIV and AIDS in societies in general and on vulnerable children in particular. FXB India Suraksha is the Indian arm of AFXB. FXB has been working in the country since 1991. With a broad focus on the control and prevention of HIV/AIDS among vulnerable section of society, the FXB India team has been implementing programmes in 28 States and 4 Union Territories of the country. Interventions are mainly targeted at specific ‘high risk’ groups such as migrant workers, fishermen and street children, as also on the general population. As you are aware, globally over 15 million children under the age of 18 had lost one or both parents to AIDS by the end of 2005. To bring the plight of these children to the forefront, and to mobilize much-needed attention of governments and communities, Countess Albina / Founder President of AFXB- launched a global movement in the year 2002, to commemorate 7th May as World AIDS Orphans’ Day and presented an appeal to the then UN Secretary General Mr. Kofi Anan with 2 billion signatures . Since then the observing of 7th May as the World AIDS Orphans’ Day has gained support from various countries, prominent leaders and communities from several states in India. Providing comprehensive care to AIDS orphans and vulnerable children has been a key message emphasized by the movement all over the world. In the above backdrop, may we request you to kindly demonstrate your support to AIDS Orphans and Vulnerable Children by joining the World AIDS Orphans' Day Campaign through the event of candle light vigil at India Gate (proposed venue) on 7th May at 7:00 p.m. Your participation and support would significantly strengthen the global solidarity network which is committed to provide love, care and support to the vulnerable community of AIDS Orphans. We look forward to your support for this worldwide coalition of solidarity and shall appreciate your early response and confirmation for the same. Sincerely, Dr. R. P.
