Guest guest
< asked> <was this the first op or second (collapsed lung)> Second op, first collapsed lung. I am told collapsed lungs will be able to fully inflate in time. With the breathing exercises, physio and the swimming I do then this should recover fully in about 4 weeks. The trick is to get the echoli (can't spell but it's the sponge inside) inflated with oxygen. I will be having a capacity test in a month. You mentioned it is still sore when you breath. I know the feeling. My physio has said to try to go beyond the pain a little each time I do the deep breathing excercises. (every half hour) To be honest I feel it is getting better and I am slowly able to take in more air, but not to the bottom of my lungs yet. cheers Gail (Stormy) Date first band: Nov 16, 98.Height: 172 cm (5' 8")Weight then: 136 kg Weight now: 92 kg Total lost: 43.5 kg Date 2nd band: July 31, 00Fill: emptySurgeon: Prof O'Brien - Melbourne. (no subject) Hi Gail was this the first op or second ( collapsed lung ), as I had a collapsed lung during the removal of my band 18 months ago and it is still sore when I breathe ( I have had a lung function test and all is OK ) but I am a bit paranoid about surgery again. If it was your second op then is there any one else on the list who has had a OP after having a collapsed lung ?????????????

Guest guest
I remember that sad story, the girl was reduced to living on a mattress in the lounge room, and the mother still provided her with food ( and they reported that it was over eating that killed her ( Heart attack ) where were the authorities then ?????????? melissa.perrow@... wrote: Why should the obese child be blamed....or the child's parents....Instead I believe it is society at fault....we have received training programs that have help to curve racism, sex discrimination, sexual orientation, and ppl with handicaps....isnt it way overdue for the obese. I rebut that statement...this whole topic began (by myself) because of the way society has reacted to this story....it reminds me of case recently in the usa ...where a mother was prosecuted for the manslaughter because her obese 14yo died of a heart attack induced by obesity....if the topic was annorexia the response would be of compassion & concern...and a willing to assist....this is not the reaction that this story has received by our society....(re: to the radio station) Perrow Market Analyst Market Analysis and Forecasting TXU Networks Level 14, 452 Flinders Street Melbourne 3000 Phone: +61 3 9229 6154 Fax: +61 3 9229 6297 Email: melissa.perrow@... At my children's school we have a few ( 2 in particular ) very obese ( hate that word ) children . These children are outcasts, they find it hard to keep up with the other kids and you can see they struggle in everything they do. It is there parents responsibility to help these children regardless of why they are over weight !!!!!!!!!! If nothing is done they will grow to be ( like us ) miserable about our size and the difficulties we have in life ( due to our weight ) I was not a fat child ( the weight for me started several years ago after the birth of my children and giving up smoking ) but if I was a fat child and fat adult then I am sure I would be twice as miserable about my weight as I am now. I am not quite sure what I am trying to say here but I think that parents need to be more responsible for OBESE children, obesity in children doesn't just happen ( and it's dam dangerous ) its either over eating or a medical condition and they both have to be addressed. Don't want to step on toes so I hope no one takes this in a wrong way ) just wanted to vent my bit about the fat children issue. I am glad some one is doing something for the child ( who was taken from her parents ) I just hope it is done in a constructive way with out any emotional dumped on the child. Guest guest
I agree totally with you !! Society has no compassion for " fat people " , we are just seen as lazy and overindulgent. I recently injured my ankle and one of my work colleages was heard to have made a comment about my injury being my fault because " IF I WASN'T SO FAT............. " Need I go on?? I'm not saying that the extra weight wasn't a contributing factor, but it was not the only reason. Yet to be banded 110kg
Guest guest
Smurffy, I am so glad you are all back safe at home. Jeff is probably right about the reaction. I was going to call but things up here are pretty crazy right now but calming down. I had my very first emg. Whahaa!!! Did I kick somebody in the face? I don't know how they can say some people don't feel a thing ... I would like to meet those super people and go live on there planet for a while. I on the other hand was not a good patient. I can't pass a light socket without getting an urge (joking). The man who was doing it said, "after a while you start to enjoy the pain." I think he was the one I kicked in the face LOL. I will wait to discuss the oh - so - splendid results with you when I visit. What are you doing for yourself right now? I think of you and Jeff all the time. I really hope you guys are finding some kind of outlet so you don't get burned out. I know it is really hard to ... but hey ... I have to say it, I worry. Please take care, Love,
Guest guest
Smurffy I'm glad the boys are home. It is too bad they couldn't have the muscle biopsies while asleep. My son frequently felt hot and had red ears, especially when stressed. Ask about vomiting after surgery and not having meds work. I'm glad this part is over for all of you. laurie > From: Mrsmurffy@... > Reply-To: > Date: Sat, 2 Mar 2002 21:37:56 EST > To: > Subject: (no subject) > > Just a quick post. Guest guest
Smurffy, Laurie is right, I had a TERRIBLE time with vomiting after my biopsy. They kept giving me injections of drugs to help chemo patients with nausea and it didn't touch my vomiting in any way shape or form. I ended up getting it to stop with Tigan suppositories. Dr. C told me later that I should have a Tigan drip WITH all surgeries in the future to prevent this as all the vomiting compromises us even more than most people. As far as the temp thing goes, my daughter and my NORMAL temp for us is 96.8, so 99 is a temp and the red face and ears my daughter gets when her autonomic system is out of whack. Push the Gatorade type stuff, at least that is what helps us, but I'm not a doc as you know. Hugs, LilSis Laureta Fitzgerald wrote: > > Smurffy > > I'm glad the boys are home. Guest guest
Hi Everyone - I work at an academic medical center where we provide PT in addition, through our sports program, we offer fitness services that are not skill-based PT, such as Ski Conditioning Classes, Golf Conditioning Classes, Yoga classes, 1:1 personal training, etc. We do not bill insurance for these classes; they are self-paid " services. " We are wondering if any of you offer such classes, and how do you manage these pts in terms of the following: 1. Are participants of such classes considered PT " pts " or not? * In regards to Joint Commission, do the participants fall under Pt Care and Assessment standards, or not? 2. How do you document their participation in these classes? 3. Do you have release of liability waivers? Thank you very much for any information you can provide - Hillary Hillary Duffy University of Colorado Hospital
