Guest guest
Just wanted to let you know that I got a chance to see a bone from a chicken that was not exposed to fluoride (one of mine got killed by a critter yesterday) and it was pink/white with not a trace of brown. We give our hens rainwater and reverse-osmosis filtered water - they only get fluoridated water when my husband waters them (rarely). So the brown/grey bones from store chickens may well be indicators that they've been given fluoridated water and accumulated it in their bones. That's going to make me think twice the next time I make stock - even organic chickens may be given tap water - as far as I know there's no regulation against it. I also found out that if you want to wash feathers in the washer, make sure the pillowcase is tied shut very very tightly! What a mess! (My kids get me to pluck the dead hens so they can keep the feathers as remembrances of the pets - weird, but true!)
