OT - Infant with hydronephrosis - large kidney

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to see if any of you have had any experience with this.

When I was pregnant my ultrasound showed that one of my sons kidneys was

over large. Apparently that is what hydronephrosis means? Anyhow, he had

another ultrasound after birth and it was still large. The doctor said

he is probably fine and that it may be just the way he developed but

they want to check to make sure it is not blocked in any way. He is

urinating fine and he seems like a very healthy boy but I'm supposed

to take him to a urologist to have him checked. This means they will

have to stick a catheter up there and it just pains me to think about

him being in pain like that. Especially if afterwards they say ... oh

well he is fine!

Anybody have any similar experience with this? is this something

serious I need to worry about?
