Guest guest
I know this isn't nutrition-related, but I don't want it to be ignored. The National Flameproof Mattress regulation: in July 2007, the federal regulation (16 CFR 1640), mandating a strict national flameproof mattress standard, forced all new mattresses to withstand a two-foot wide blowtorch open-flame test for 70 seconds. This means every normal new mattress in the US has some toxic chemicals in it to be flame retardant. Could be formaldehyde, antimony, boric acid... There is an exception if you get a " doctor's prescription, " but effectively, this has shut out a lot of smaller mattress producers. I'm guessing it won't be cheap to get a flame-retardant- free mattress, nor easy. This seems to have gone unnoticed by many people, and I'm rather concerned about people buying new beds.
