Dear Forum,

I am happy to read the posting of Bobby . Excellent work Bobby !

After my posting on website of NACO and Maharashtra State AIDS Control Society,

I would urge NACO to make available the material produced by them on the

website. The recent links on the homepage like advertisement for inviting

applications from NGOs/CBOs for empanelment and Invites applications for the

contractual post of Regional Coordinators for Care, Support & Treatment under

National AIDS Control Programme–III are not functioning at all. It it posted

just for sake of knowledge.

The last newsletter posted in acrobat format is April - May 2005. Are

newsletters not published? The website is static like NACO which is not showing

any progressive signs. If UNAIDS, UN agencies and government websites are

updated, why not NACO? Various NGOs & UN agencies even post their financial and

annual reports. Why not NACO? The officials should realize that public have the

right to know. Use the website to give us information.

I appreciate some SACs websites like the one of Bihar where even the circulars

are NACO are posted. West Bengal website gives the Annual Work Plan and State

Programme Implementation Plan. NACO should make available all the State

Programme Implementation Plan.

Sometimes some initiatives are given so much publicity in newsletter and

national media before they are implemented. I remember the initiative of Red

Ribbon Express. Was it implemented? I understand it was supposed to converge in

Nagpur. The publicity was made in two newsletters of NACO.

NACO had launched another website for CMIS under NACP II. Was it used? Is it

functioning now? Will it be used for NACP II. Has NACO given a thought to it?

NACO should give budget provision for each SACs to maintain and update their

website. If this happens, NGOs, CBOs and institutions can contribute in a very

effective way.

Regards,
