Guest guest
My son is 3 1/2 and usually insists on doing his own wiping after a BM but for some reason he wanted me to today. When I did, the wipe was pink. He went again and I made him let me wipe and it was fine. Is there a problem with giving the vitamin K and how much? Should I take him to his reg. ped. before his DAN appt. in Feb? This is far fetched but I don't want us getting in an accident and him bleeding to death because he is K deficient. He is the one with dark circles, good sleep, no obvious signs of allergies. Thanks for your help. ________________________________________________________________________________\ ____ Music Unlimited Access over 1 million songs. http://music./unlimited

Guest guest
Is he constipated? Sometimes the blood is from little tears and irritation. I actually worry more about bright red blood, or black tarry stools (what blood looks like in the poop after being digested). The fact that on the re-wipe it was fine, also sounds more like some irritation than a true bleed. How much fish oil and vitamin E is your son on? Risk of bleed really is the main issue, although I'm not even sure how much it is a true and valid issue - especially at the doses of vit E (< 1500 IU) being used by this group. But if you notice blood again, you will want to talk to your pediatrician. Next visit, ask your doc to check stools for blood. We also see blood in stool as a result of bacterial or viral infections...but typically associated with diarrhea, or with food allergies...especially to milk, but can occur with other things as well. - > My son is 3 1/2 and usually insists on doing his own > wiping after a BM but for some reason he wanted me to > today. Guest guest
He is actually down to only 3 ProEFA and 2 EPAs a day because I didn't feel like I saw a difference with it for him and some family started saying he looked like he had dark circles under his eyes. I know many others are on higher doses but I have only had one out of three SLPs say he has apraxia and so if he doesn't have it, I didn't know if he could have an overdose quicker -- the three weeks he took it at 800 i.u. I did call my pediatrician and she said that since it only happened once, it is probably a tear or something he ate. She said just to watch and wait to add any supplements until I see the biomed. doctor. Does it take longer than 3 weeks to see a difference in speech and if so, how long should I try if the new doctor says it's okay? He responded REALLY well to the fish oil a year and a half ago, so I was suprised there was no change. Thank you so much for your response. __________________________________________________

Guest guest
I am seeing great results with Vit K and high vitamin cod liver oil with butter oil (Vit A & D). I'm using a fat soluble vitamin protocol theorized by a very bright Mom -- join the Vitamin K group and check out files. My son did well with Omegas , but then his progress stalled, he not do well with vitamin E -- but when I added phoschol, Vit K, VSL#3, and high vitamin cod liver oil, things started to progress. If you think your child has problems with their fatty acid metabolism or with oxalates -- I would recommend looking into it. > > Sorry to muddy the waters y'all but I have a vitamin K question. Guest guest
Hi - Could you tell me what the vitamin K has to do with the oxalates? My son has high oxalates. I've been told to use zinc supplements (which we do). I've also been told to add extra calcium when he is eating high oxalate foods...haven't really done this yet. Thanks! - > > > > > > > > Sorry to muddy the waters y'all but I have a vitamin K > question. > > > Those > > > > of you who are giving some vitamin K to counteract any Vitamin > E > > side > > > > effects, how much vitamin K are you giving? > > > > > > > > thanks > > > > Kris > > > > ___________________________________________________ > > > > Kris Haukoos > > > > Sonny & Shear > > > > The I've Got Ewe, Babe Yarn Shop > > > > www.sonnyandshear.com > > > > > > > > > > > >

Guest guest
Here's the paper with the hypothesis explained. http://www.lymeinducedautism.com/images/VitaminKDeficiencyasaCauseofAu tisticSymptoms09.16.2006.pdf High oxalates can be caused by yeast -- which can put make the zinc - copper balance get whacky. Many kids who have increased copper levels -- so supplementing with zinc is advised. An easy way to tell when they've had enough -- they " taste " it -- in something like a zinc cough drop. Another sure sign of zinc deficiency is if a scrape of bug bite takes more than a few days to heal. Kids should be extremely fast healers. There are two schools of thoughts on calcium and oxalates -- and they are nearly opposites. One school -- the LOD (low oxalate diet) says to give calcium citrate with every meal to absorb the oxalates. The other says that most kids on/just off the spectrum have high calcium levels that are not being properly balanced by the body. My son " matched " the latter school of thought - so I have been supplementing with magnesium (mainly citrate) almost exclusively. He's had constipation since is DTap shots at 2 months old, so he was already on magnesium when we started K2. I just added a little calcium lately. Supplementing with Vitamin K has been helpful for us. For my son, he is still taking NN Ultimate Omega and EPAxtra - 2 of each per day, and Carlson's E Elite (1 per day). We had a naturopath label of K2 -- but Thorne is recommended and easier to get. I recently added High Vitamin cod liver oil (green pastures Blue Ice Gold), so he would be getting a full compliment of fat soluble vitamins. I really feel the natural vitamin A is helping. He is still dumping oxalates on occasion, but I am beginnning to think we're getting to the end of this. He had great language jumps when we started on the Omegas last summer, but did not handle Vitamin E will (very emotional). Now by supplimenting all the fat solubles he's had anothe bump in language -- although still subtle. I'm not sure, but I think his fine motor skill have improved a bit too. BTW -- I don't think he had a problem with oxalates until he was on Miralax -- for a little over a year. I didn't realize it at the time -- it is toxic and shouldn't ever be given to kids (IMO). > > > > > > > > > > Sorry to muddy the waters y'all but I have a vitamin K > > question. > > > > Those > > > > > of you who are giving some vitamin K to counteract any > Vitamin > > E > > > side > > > > > effects, how much vitamin K are you giving? > > > > > > > > > > thanks > > > > > Kris > > > > > ___________________________________________________ > > > > > Kris Haukoos > > > > > Sonny & Shear > > > > > The I've Got Ewe, Babe Yarn Shop > > > > > www.sonnyandshear.com > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >

Guest guest
These symptoms all seem to be high oxalate related: Sandy stools (black specs) Cloudy urine Frequent UTIs (that when you go back and look at the labs -- didn't really have enough bacteria count to be a UTI) Painful urination. Calcium oxalates are HUGE crystals for the body to process -- so they hurt. The first group to suggest a low oxalate diet was the vulvar pain group. There is a group called Trying Low Oxalates. I did not find the diet to be successful -- and it was so contrary to what I knew worked for my son -- leafy vegetables, etc. I did find out some valuable information, though. For example -- using lemon juice to increase the PH (making the body more alkaline) High oxalate levels are related to kidney stones too (the cloudy urine is really tiny stones) In my son's case the high oxalates were caused by miralax -- which I have now found out is terrible stuff. Getting them out is a long slow process. Here's more info http://www.greatplainslaboratory.com/oxalates/oxal- test.pdf > > > > Sorry to muddy the waters y'all but I have a vitamin K question. > Those > > of you who are giving some vitamin K to counteract any Vitamin E side > > effects, how much vitamin K are you giving? > > > > thanks > > Kris > > ____________ _________ _________ _________ _________ ___ > > Kris Haukoos > > Sonny & Shear > > The I've Got Ewe, Babe Yarn Shop > > www.sonnyandshear. com > > > > > >

Guest guest
A comibination of Serrapeptase (3-5 grams a day) and Nattokinase (1-2 grma a day) will take care of the platelet aggregation and the extra fibrin respectively. Gingko biloba is a great blood thinner and should be taken in moderation but the above enzymes are proteolitic (dissolve clots) Others like bromelain but I prefer these two. Guest guest
If you get vitamin k2 is pretty safe because it has a short term life and is natural produced by bacteria in our guts. K1 and synthetic k is a different story. I give my DD Thorne research vitamin k2, 1000mcg a day plus whatever she gets form her diet. She is 18months and 23 pounds. Haven't noticed any problems so far. We can also read an article they have on their website that was very informative to me before I agreed to give it to her.HTH Leo
