We also have ongoing conversations as to the relative merits of salary vs. hourly. We have some areas that are consistantly busy and the overtime could be significant, however there are other areas where volume fluctuates a great deal more and an hourly system would be preferable. We have been told that we cannot have two different models for the same job codes/classification. At this time we continue in an salary model. D. Julius PT Ann Arbor, MI. Guest guest
I can't say much for Michigan, In Iowa we pay our staff here hourly. This has a couple of benefits for them, they get overtime if they work more than 40 hours a week. I think that this makes them more willing to work the extra hours. Another benefit is if you have a low week with less patient volumne then they can go home if they want. I have found that most of them will go home and not get paid as long as they have the flexibility to pick up hours later. I have worked in many different settings and the hourly verse salary is usually a issue. The only reason that i can see to have someone work salary is so that they can work more than 40 hours and not get paid for it. I work for a non for profit critical access hospital, just thought that everyone should keep that in mind with the above statement. Just my two cents. Guest guest
Don't know about Michigan. MY gut reaction for hospital based clinics in Illinois are 50% salaried, 50% hourly. I think most private and/or corporate owned clinics are salaried. --- juliusdc15 wrote: > > > > > Ill try again. Are most clinics in Michigan > paying staff PT on > salary > > or hourly basis. Guest guest
Kathi, We are an outpatient setting and have most of our PT's on a salary basis. Only contingent staff and PTA's are hourly for us. The nice thing about the contingent therapists is we can cut their hours during times when patient volume is lower.
