Guest guest
I have traveled with my clo but not in a plane, just by car and I put it in a cooler. I have learend that I prefer to buy the clo/butter oil capsules for just such times.?You can pack them anywhere without worrying about drips and mess and I'm sure they would stay fresh with refrigeration since the luggage area of a plane is so cold.. I wonder if they would be less of a problem to carry-on since they are capsules and not a bottle of liquid. ?I don't have any info on the xray question, just thought I'd tell you the other stuff I learned! Danae Question about traveling with supplements I am going on a trip and I have some supplements open like my butter oil and clo. I don't want to pack them in the suitcase b/c then they go through that monster xray thing. I was thinking I can put them on my carry-on but I don't know if the airport people would give me a hard time b/c the bottles are not sealed and I don't know if that little xray machine poses a problem and I should just mail them to myself. Any thoughts/experiences? ------------------------------------
Guest guest
I've shipped a box of things to my destination before, when I've had to fly on an airplane. I've heard of other people approaching the TSA somewhere else in the airport, not in the security lines, and asking them to allow certain items to bypass the X-ray. They may want to pull you aside for some lame secondary inspection, to sniff the contents of the bottle, etc. You can also call the TSA ahead of time and ask about specific items. Don't expect a consistent response with what you encounter on the day of your flight, though! It might help to get something in writing ahead of time. You can complain all you want, but they're going to zap your stuff... unless you keep it in your pocket. You could put a bunch of softgels (or capsules or whatever) in a ziplock bag, squeeze all the air out, put it in your pocket and walk right through. Unless you have really massively bulging pockets, I guess. <g> -
Guest guest
So you think the little xray machine can have a microwave effect on the supplements? I want to just ship it but I think of how hot packages are when I get them sometimes. Maybe the CLO would be okay shipped since it's fermented, maybe it would just keep on fermenting. I am concerned about the butter oil. One time I had loose pants and put the CLO in my pocket and that worked out but it was sealed so I knew if they pulled me aside it wouldn't have been a big deal but I think you need to put liquids in bags right? > > - > > > I am going on a trip and I have some supplements open like my butter > > oil and clo. Why not ship it in a temperature controlled container or maybe even use dry ice? If you do ship, you might want to make sure the shipper doesn't use x-rays on their packages. -- Buffalo too, has beautiful summers but not this year. Cool and rainy. For the first time in ten years, we never installed the air conditioners. Guest guest
- > So you think the little xray machine can have a microwave effect on > the supplements? Well, they use pretty high energy levels, and Enig said she wouldn't touch anything that's gone through them, so yeah, I'd avoid consuming anything that's been scanned. > I want to just ship it but I think of how hot packages are when I get > them sometimes. Maybe the CLO would be okay shipped since it's > fermented, maybe it would just keep on fermenting. I am concerned > about the butter oil. Well, butter oil is highly saturated, so it ought to be pretty stable. Are these in liquid form, or in gelcaps? If the former, shipping would doubtless be safer and easier, and as suggests, you could just pack it with some dry ice or an ice pack. > One time I had loose pants and put the CLO in my pocket and that > worked out but it was sealed so I knew if they pulled me aside it > wouldn't have been a big deal but I think you need to put liquids in > bags right? Yeah, they're supposed to be in separate ziploc baggies IIRC. So I'd just mail the stuff ahead of you. -
