Of the rescues that we've fostered, Kinsey was my favorite: http://www.flickr.com/photos/oz4caster/2209184707/ We've been trying to find a second dog that Hailey will accept, but Kinsey was too rough and Hailey was trying to assert dominance even though she was outweighed 45 lb to 12 lb. Kinsey did find an excellent home, ironically with a German Shepherd, so that she is now the small dog. Willow tested positive for heart worm. She also was a bit too rough with Hailey, with Hailey trying to assert dominance. She is supposed to be going through heart worm treatment now, but I haven't heard if they've started it. Most of her pups have been adopted. The biggest difficulty in working with rescues is that all the rescue groups I've seen so far require all the vet-recommended vaccines, which I am not comfortable with. Hailey was obviously sick for several days after the last vaccine they gave her. We are going to wait until Hailey is a year old before trying another dog, and will probably look for a younger dog that will be about Hailey's size for better compatibility. Our 10 yo daughter likes smaller dogs that she can pick up.
