a good night's sleep

Hi everyone,

Well, yesterday I saw Prof. O'Brien (Stuart Skinner was stuck in traffic so

I got the big cheese himself!) for the first time since the 6-week post-op

checkup, and he partially emptied my band. The 3.6 ml that was supposedly

there turned out to be 3.4, and he took it down to 3.1 (my all-time high was

3.9). Consequences over the past 24 hours have been both positive and

negative. The best thing is that I had a good night's sleep for the first

time in many weeks.... no reflux, no burning oesophagus, no sudden waking

with acid gunk flooding up into my nose (charming, I know!). On the other

hand.... I was able to eat a huge dinner, and I can see that until I get

tightened up again I'm probably going to gain weight. I am one of those for

whom the band does not produce any underlying behaviour modification

whatsoever, and the moment I am able to eat, I do. So... I guess I will give

my system a few weeks to settle down, hopefully all the swelling and

soreness will abate in that time, and then gradually increase my fill level

to a workable point.

Take care, everyone.
