At least I transitioned them from butter to lard for baking - I think the lard smells like pork even in biscuits or brownies but the kids and dh don't mind a bit and since the lard was free (got a 5 gal. bucket of it when we bought 1/2 hog - no extra charge) it sure is cheaper! Once you get past the pork rind smell, the foods do taste good - that appealing-ness that means your body recognizes it as good food. > > my 16 yr. old daughter told me a great story today.
