Guest guest
Tim in Valencia You have two excellent outsource PT billing companies right there in California. Their only clients are PT/OT/SP practices. Sometimes it is less painful and more profitable to go the outsource route than it is to try to identify someone with billing experience (and even better, therapy billing experience), purchase a software package, pick out the hardware, design how you would like your billing system to run, etc. For those of you that know I run my own Therapy Billing Company, I wouldn't dream of taking on a " normal " clinic in California because of the regulatory environment and the fact that California W/C is utilizing CPT codes dating back to the late 80's/early 90's (ones that have since been taken out of service). If you would like me to recommend those companies, please feel free to call me. Guest guest
Based on my recent experience, make sure that you have someone who doesn't need to learn billing but who is an experienced biller. We did an internal audit recently and realized our AR was extremely high because of lack of adequate follow through daily on patients accounts. Now we are having to go through each patient and fix accounts that were payments and contractuals not posted correctly or not posted at all. Lack of follow up on line items that weren't paid, not billing patient for co-insurance, lack of knowledge on how to read an EOB etc. I will never again hire someone to do this job that doesn't have experience in Rehab billing, it doesn't matter how smart the trainee is,,,,they need experience specially when starting a business. We have only been open for a year and a half but have learned now from our mistake of this billing nightmare. Tim Eckard, MSPT, Cert. Guest guest
In my opinion, a great rehab biller is as important to a practice as a great therapist. Be prepared to pay top dollar. I would suggest, too, that any employee who is going to have access to financial information and billing software have both a credit check and a background check. Billing software Group, I just got a lease for space to start my practice and I am attempting to line up all my ducks. I have someone to do the billing. Her experience is limited but she is bright, computer savvy, and motivated. She has experience using Medisoft but is open to other software packages if they are user friendly. Studies have shown cost of in house billing can range anywhere from 12-15% of revenues (these stats have been offered up at PPS conferences but unfortunately, I do not know the source/maybe someone reading this post can offer up the article(s). The two billing services in the California area charge 8% and provide support and training. Jim <///>< **************Start the year off right. Guest guest
You can " Google " both background check and check someone's credit. Many companies offering services will pop up. Also check out beware of on-line background check scams.. Good luck! Viel, Office Manager Mt. Eden Physical Therapy 19845 Lake Chabot Road, Suite 205 Castro Valley, CA 94546 mt_eden_pt@... Guest guest
Hiring a billing service makes sense for large practices and new practices, but many smaller practices in my area have chosen to go back to in-house billing. Some reasons listed for going in-house are timely billing of patients for missed co-payments or co-insurance and doggedly chasing every penny. We all know insurance companies deny charges and a certain percentage of those denials are never appealed being " small change. " Add up the small change and you might collect a bundle! Those practices who have gone back in-house report profits are up...sometimes dramatically. Viel, Office Manager Mt. Guest guest
Does anybody have experience with Medisoft? We have 5 computers on network and keep encountering network issues. Our Medisoft rep tells us that we need a separate server. Is this true? How about other softwares? any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Sheynin, PT, Howell, NJ
