Guest guest
At our facility we schedule a 30 minute unpaid lunch time for our employees (exempt and non-exempt) working greater than 6 hours. Mr. Roll, As you know, most outpatient facilities require their therapists to work shifts of 10 or more hours per day. I'm sure you are also aware of the fact that as a persons blood sugar drops their ability to optimally perform mental and physical tasks also decreases. Being a professional does not exempt a person from this fact. When working long hours, people need to " refuel " even if it is for a short period of time. I am a strong advocate for all of the therapists (and ancillary staff) that I supervise. I believe that if you take care of your employees basic needs, they will reciprocate. As a result, your team WILL get the job done even when it requires working over 40 hours a week. A happy therapist is a loyal and productive therapist. I'm going to get off my box now. Thanks for listening. Jon Mark Pleasant, PT Manager: Physical Medicine Dept. Regional Medical Center
