Guest guest Posted July 5, 2000 Report Share Posted July 5, 2000 Dear , I was banded at the end of July last year and had an infected port site which hadn't healed after six months. An oozing gaping wound - pretty horrible. The only solution was to have the port removed, let everything heal and put in a new port. I had a heap of fills pretty quickly before the port was taken out (I hadn't had my first fill until about 4 months post-op due to the infection). Until I get a new port put in I can't have a fill, and even though I've got about 3.2 (or 3.4mls) in I am not restricted enough. I had the port removed at the end of January but have been away so much that I haven't schedule a hospital visit to have a new one inserted, must do it soon. I had masses of tests for the band, The Avenue here in Melbourne is very thorough with testing prior to being banded. Didn't you have any tests? Our speech therapy department is looking into purchasing a biofeedback unit that utilizes a tongue bulb for coordination of the tongue during swallowing. The kit for the unit is costly.
