Guest guest
I have a few questions around the prospect of implementing transdisciplinary evaluations in a pediatric setting. My pediatric team would like to start using a play based assessment approach that is supported by our local pediatricians, but I am a little concerned about how the assessments are documented and billed. I'm sure someone out there has been down this road, and I would certainly appreciate your input. The resources necessary to complete this evaluation requires billing separately for simultaneous evaluations by PT, OT and Speech. I assume the document must therefore reflect the skilled input of each discipline in such a way as to justify, but I'm not sure how this is best done. Is a statement in the document justifying medical necessity for each separate discipline and a signature adequate? Also, how is it determined which disciplines should be involved? My team has proposed a preliminary screening process to assist in this determination, but again, I'm hoping someone has been down this road and can provide a little insight. Thanks, Darrell Messersmith, MSPT Director of Physical Medicine Platte Valley Medical Center Brighton, Colorado
