Guest guest
Eileen, We do employ ATC's here at our hospital through our rehab department. I would be happy to talk with you in depth and describe how we use ATCs. You are correct in that we cannot use ATCs to deliver therapy services with the exception of using them in an " aide " capacity. We do not do this due to the vast divide between the going rate of pay for an aide and the going rate for an ATC in our area. I can be reached at . Have a great day. Chad Chad W. Our Administration is looking to do this and I would appreciate any feedback or pros and cons for this set up. If you do use an ATC to cover school sports programs do you utilize them in any other way outside of the school year? I know they can not provide any physical therapy treatments - does anyone use them as an aide? Or a mobility tech in an inpatient setting? Any comments would be appreciated. Guest guest
we do employ 1 ATC for local high school coverage and she runs a sports clinic for us once a week to help the athletes, the goal of this program was to identify athletes that may need rehab. This program has worked out well at times and other times not that great. I think that it is still a great program to have for pr and marketing for the local high schools. Guest guest
We do not utilize our athletic trainers in the inpatient setting at all. In addition to outreach to our schools, we use them for sports enhancement training and community education programs. M. Trevor Huffman, P.T., M.S., S.C.S., A.T.C.
