I want to express my view regarding your opinion of recruiting the non hiv+

person as the coordinator of GIPA post in jharkhand. I am in the field of

hiv/aids since 1999 and tracking many more issues which people raised through

this FORUM.

As you have mentioned that GIPA coordinator should be from the positive people

so that the felt needs of the community and gaps can be indentified and action

taken accordingly. But, prior to develop the positive networks, the care &

support activity being served by the people who are not under the grasp of the

virus and many of them served beautifully.

So what is needed is to understand the issues and act accordingly with

professionalism (proper timed delevery of the services). If the person has got

the social bent of mind and has the confidence to meet the need of the job then

i think any one can serve the post.

So far the medical person is concerened, my view is that we will waste our

medical resource if we cosider to engage such a person.

Because it is the job which neeeds coordination of the services and deliver the

output in a effective manner towords our people who needs it.

So i think not only in JHARKHSND in some other places too this type of

recruitment can be happened. and nothing wrong in it.

I agree with Avijit the fact that prior to development of

Positive Network the care & support activity being served by the people who are

And i know many of them continue to serve beutifully.

However, GIPA means Greater Involvment of People Living with HIV/AIDS and now

for this GIPA Coordinator post,if you want anybody other then HIV+ve people,then

i doubt you believe nor understand the concept

called GIPA.

Let us allow PLHIV to grow and develope. They don't have to be the recipient

all the time like prior to development of Positive Network.I think the largest

health movement in the world history is AIDS movement which lead by people

living with HIV. And i beleive

HIV+ve person can deliver in much more effective manner here as a GIPA

coordinator.

So, i think not only in Jharkhand but rest of the WORLD, we MUST hire PLHIV as

GIPA Coordinator.
